I LOVE THESE INCENSES AND HAVE NOTICED THEY DON'T LEAVE THE YELLOW RESIDUE ON ITEMS WHERE THE INCENSE WAS USED. THAT HAS HAPPENED OVER TIME WITH OTHERS I'VE USED IN THE PAST. THE SCENTS ARE GREAT BUT I DO HAVE MY FAVORITES AND THIS SANDALWOOD IS ONE OF THEM. I USE THEM IN THE BATHROOM MOSTLY INSTEAD OF SPRAYS, AND THEY WORK VERY EFFECTIVELY FOR THAT. I WILL CONTINUE TO BUY THIS BRAND AS NEEDED, ALSO BECAUSE THE SCENT DOESN'T OVERPOWER THE AREA BUT JUST LEAVES IT PERFECTLY AROMATIC, SO YOU WON'T BE BLINDED OR CHOKING FROM THE SMOKE AS YOU MIGHT BE WITH OTHER BRANDS. IT'S REALLY GOOD!

I actually was at a artisan that was being held outside...i kept smelling this wonderful smell!! I tracked it down and a .an was burning it in his ceramic burners he made. He confessed where he got them and i am hooked!

This is now my fifth variety of HEM cones ... The sandal scented cones do smell quite nicely, the overall strength of the smell just about perfect for my senses. As with almost all incense the smell itself does not really become truly noticable and appreciable until after they have burned - leaving a faint scent throughout the room and moving about the house in general. The sandal cones appear to have a burn-time slightly less than the traditional inscense such as Myrrh. Interestingly these and other HEM cone varieties do not always burn all the way down, often leaving a small unburned base. As I have noticed with all varieties of HEM cones (and most other brands as well) is that for a short while they can produce a large amount of smoke. This can be a problem if you get too close to the cloud of smoke and/or burn these in a relatively small room. One can suffer what I call "Nose-Burn" - that is the receptors in the nose can be literally and quickly overloaded, giving the sense of a rather acrid and unpleasant smell (the same effect happens when you encounter someone who has overdosed on cologne/perfume). Because of this I do strongly recommend that if you want to use these in a small room such as a single-bedroom or bathroom you leave the door open allowing more air circulation, or else leave the room until after the incense has burned out. And now, as I see it, one drawback of all HEM cones: I like to use a variety of different scented cones, and for this purpose may place a small number of each in a single box I keep where ever I burn them, so I can pick what I like for the moment and do not have to have a collection of packages lying around. All HEM cones I have tried, no matter the variety of scent look alike: a dark brownish color, which makes it totally impossible to tell one scent variety from the other when all placed together. Even the inside foil-like packaging containing the cones are all the same with no hint what is inside, forcing one to keep them all in the original box. Several other brands do intentionally color the different scented cones, making it easy to keep them apart. Latter aside, the HEM cones are a fairly decent inscense cone quality wise, especially given the lower pricing of their product. And some higher priced brands are actually not that much better (there are a few exceptions to this) A Note to users of German 'smoker-men': I have used a lot (and still do) of the German made 'Knox' inscense cones (another brand is Crottendorfer). Latter are smaller, and so produce less smoke, and so are ideally suited for the German-made Smoker-men. As the Hem cones are physically larger - and so burn 5-10 minutes longer - they may not be suitable for some of the smaller sized German smoker figures - the cones will suffocate inside the smaller smokers.

Nice little incense burner. After reading reviews, I scratched the bottom of the lid and mine appears to be metal.

Barely smells like sandalwood, and instead there's an overpoweringly strong perfume/floral smell that immediately gave me a headache. No idea why everyone described these as being subtle and not long lasting, 3 days have passed since I burned 1 cone and my whole house still smells like soap. Probably great for covering up other smells though.

The cones are great. Good burn time, at least 20 min. The sandalwood smell is just right, not too over powering. I like the 10 packs also, they let you keep the other cones sealed until you need to open them. I will buy this again.
