Excellent
I bought this to replace the plastic one that I purchased not so long ago. Don't bother with plastic cheaper ones. This is the one to go for. Plastic imitations break far too easily (my plastic one broke on first use) and this one is very sturdy and easy to use.I have already created lots of lovely cupcakes and it's also been very handy to adorn my boys' birthday cakes with names, lines and pretty much anything else! The only criticism I could come up with is that, when you have alot of icing to do, the syringe does only hold a small amount and so regular refills are necessary - not always a hindrance though. If you're debating whether to go for a plastic one though, please don't bother as you'll waste your money - buy this one.

Ever Since I learned to write...
Ever since I learned to write my name in the snow I have wished I had a shorter name and a steadier hand. I could say both have been my adversaries in acquiring the art of cake decoration, but once you have decided to conquer, this Syringe set must become the tool of your trade. It is your brush. Nothing else performs as well.Let me explain. Plastic syringes will never survive the strength test. They, like me on a Monday, succumb to pressure. They split (I don't usually do that - not on a Monday). The metal set, with its screw fit ends and realistically strong plunger, is infinitely less friable. You can warm it, you can use it without a nozzle fitted for those cream filling jobs involving Choux pastry, and you can do fine trace work with a sensitivity generally unachievable with a piping bag. One word of warning. Dry it thoroughly after washing. I put mine in my top oven (oven turned off of course) for a little while when cooking in the big oven - just enough to dry it. Otherwise they tend to rust - them being made of tin plate an' all.

Classic design
The Tala design has the advantage of being reasonably strong and the only metal icing set available. (Plastic ones break and bag types are messy if you are unskilled). However it is basic, made from what appears to be cheap tin-plate to an old design which was utilitarian rather than oozing quality. It works ok.

Don't buy it. I wish I hadn't.
Ordered 2 and gave one to a friend. The one given to my friend fell apart when first used with royal icing. The part that the nozzles screwed onto came off when she removed the piping nozzle. Fortunately she's a good mate and saw the funny side of it. I certainly did not!!! We glued it together with super glue so she could finish decorating a cake. I chose this make because of it's supposed good reviews. Obviously my opinion is that the item was flimsy crap and I'm embarrassed that I gifted one to a friend. Can't wait to open the one I kept for myself. Hopefully, it won't be another piece of rubbish. Gave it one star for the plastic packaging. Took ages to get that sucker open. Better quality than the icing gun itself actually.

Disappointed
Was kinda disappointed with this, having read mostly good reviews before buying. When it arrived, some of the nozzles were slightly squashed, so didn't have their original shape, despite having been packaged well in a box with paper by Amazon. After using for 2 weeks, the inside of the main tube has started corroding near one of the metal seams at the front end, so I pretty much can't use it anymore.Bit of a wasted effort & purchase as I had to go buy a better quality product elsewhere anyway.

Easy to use and well designed
I am more than impressed with my new icing set, my previous one I had for many years but after lending it out to a friend, it was sent back without the nut to attatch the nozzles. I also think the syringe design is so easy to use

They are excellent. The plastic efforts are not worth buying but ...
These were to replace my 2 sets which I have been using for over 40 years. They are excellent. The plastic efforts are not worth buying but these metal ones are set to last!
