The best case I've used . . . so far
I used probably ten different cases over the years since I started using a smartphone. In every single case up until now the cases have failed horribly. I've never used an Otterbox so I can comment on that, but I can speak to having used the Trident over several months.I've dropped my iPhone 4 once and the case held up perfectly . . . except it did pop open. Maybe that's actually a good thing because that's a form of energy release. In any case, it didn't come apart enough that the phone fell out or anything like that. And the case showed no wear or defect from the fall! Can't say that about any of the other cases I've used.I have some neutral concerns about the Trident. These aren't issues that have shown to be real, but they're possibilities.1. The rubber gaskets over the various ports might not hold up after repeated use. Specifically, they might break off after being opened and closed repeatedly over time.2. The case will not protect that much against water given that the access points in the back of the case. See the product image where there are open ports for the camera lens and the Apple logo. This isn't so much a problem for me, but it needed to be mentioned. The front of the case WILL protect from rain given that there's a built in screen protector.Pros:1. No loss in touch screen ability with the screen protector. I have a screen protector on the front glass underneath the case and I'm not seeing a problem even with double protection!2. Ridges on the side are great if you hold your phone and are afraid of it slipping out of your hand. This is one reason I didn't want a case like the Otterbox. I wanted to know I had something to hold onto when I had the camera in my hands.I really can't think of a major con for this product - as long as my neutral concerns don't become a reality. So I definitely recommend this case. It's not the best case in terms of overall protection, but it's pretty darn good and it meets all my needs.UPDATE as of March 25, 2013Case has performed superbly. Multiple drops from about 3 feet onto hard pavement and not a scratch on the iPhone. Even more surprising, the case still looks almost like new. By far, the best case I've used for ANY phone.

Trident Cyclops case for iPhone 4S - So far, so good
I like this case so far, but haven't really put it through any extreme tests, e.g., dropping my phone onto concrete floors. It makes the iPhone 4S easier for me to hold - I have large hands, and the basic phone was too small and slippery. The Cyclops case has a hard plastic shell, whose outer surface has a rubberized feel to it. This, plus the molded-in ribs along the side, provide for a firm grip. The case has a built-in front screen protector which seems to do its job. There are no bubbles or weird rainbow effects that I see. The inner silicone cover slipped over the phone easily, and seemed to fit well. Once the case is assembled, all of the phone's external connectors and switches are covered with silicone. The connector flaps are a little difficult to open, but that's the price of keeping the connectors clean. The flaps do seem to stay in place when they are closed. There is a large patch of the silicone exposed on the rear, covered with bumps for grip. This helps keep the phone from sliding on a smooth surface. My only real complaint is with the included rear protective film. This film protects the entire back side of the phone except for the camera lens and LED flash. I must have tried 20 times before I got that film smoothed down, without any bits of dust or other molecular debris being trapped under its surface. I came close to ripping it off and throwing it away. For this reason, the case gets four stars instead of five.I do wish there were a few more color options, e.g., yellow, orange, etc.

Very Pleased
I've had my iPhone for about three months now and when you first get it you're dying to put a case on it. So I did, I originally went with the otterbox commuter case. Don't get me wrong the case was nice but it didn't have anything secure over the screen, so my search continued. I happened to be browsing one day on Amazon and came across this case and first thought "oh this is going to be some cheap version of an otterbox". But it was a great price, so I figured why not try it. Ever since I received it, I've loved it! The built in screen protector works greatly and also it absorbs contact in case of any drops. I've dropped the phone a few times and I've picked it back up and there wasn't anything wrong with it nor the case. The only thing I will say is the headphone jack can't be used while this case is on. You can try and put them on and it seems as if they are connected but as soon as you press play, the sound still comes out of your phone not the headphones. Well at least with my headphones (I use Beats by dre). Overall this case is a great if you don't want to worry about your phone getting messed up after a drop, very durable, and at a very nice price. Try it out!

Trident Case CY2-IPH4-RD Carrying Case for Apple iPhone 4 & 4S - CYCLOPS 2 Series - Nice Design; Poor texture
This case is of a very nice design by Trident on mere looking at it. But holding it is not that comfortable. The ridges on the sides of this case feel too hard on the palm and therefore for some soft palms, the case hurts somehow to grip. I bought the Trident Cases Cyclops Series for iPhone 4 (about three of them - different colors) in the past and I just love how it feels to the grip! (It's a wonderful robberised grip). If I knew this one is that hard on the palm, I would've just stayed with those ones. I should've given this a five star if not for the concrete-hard palm grip. I wish the manufacturer can soften the grip area a little bit. It's just too hard! !! If you have a palm made of concrete, then go for this one. My seven year old even comfirmed this when I asked him to bring my phone for me a few days ago. He said "this your new case is too hard" "I like the other one better". Alternatively, if they can incoporate a built-in screen protector to the Trident Aegis Case for Apple iPhone 4, I will go for that as well. That's another beautiful design by Trident and is a little tender to the grip ( Trident Aegis Case for Apple iPhone 4 - AT&T and Verizon - Red ). The reason why I didn't go for it was because of it's lack of built-in screen protector. All Trident's cases for iphone 4 in my opinion are five star in design but have their individual flaws in usage.
