Perfect size scoop for making cookies
I spent a long time trying to determine the correct size of these Piazza scoops for cookies and muffin portions. This No 60 Piazza scoop is perfect for portioning out cookie dough. It’s 1 1/2” across and Piazza is unparalleled for quality and workmanship. I own other Piazza scoops and I’ve had them for years and they still work perfectly. I expect this will also last a lifetime.

The Best Scoops
It’s a challenge to find Piazza scoops, so I was happy to find a #20 scoop pop up on Amazon. These are great scoops, all stainless steel. I’ve had my other ones for many many years and they are just like new.My only complaint isn’t related to the scoop, but rather the packaging—there was none. I would have been happier if it had arrived wrapped in bubble wrap, or in a box, or something other than a bare scoop in a very battered UPS bag.

Great product, but a little smaller than expected.
I wouldn’t recommend for scooping ice cream, but it’s a great scooper for batter, and cookie dough, and meatballs. The product came a lot smaller than expected, but it works very well if you do big scoops. It’s a very good quality scooper, but I just wouldn’t recommend if you are in the market for an ice cream scooper.

Better off elsewhere
Heavy duty metal for handle and scoop is nice, but the part that pushes out the ice cream is cheap and broke after 2 uses. Really poor design.

Great scoop for cookies
Great size for cookies. My husband makes monster cookies every Christmas to give away, because people ask for them all the time. As the name implies, the recipe makes about 20 dozen cookies. My husband used the Piazza 1-1/2 inch ice cream scoop this year, and he loved it. He said it saved him so much time and cut his time in the kitchen by almost half, because he could scoop dough with consistent amounts and place them on cookie sheets so much faster. He raved about this product, and it is rare for my husband to rave about a kitchen tool.

This is a #10 Size Portioning Scoop
I own Piazza portioning scoops in four different sizes (and the Kuchenprofi Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop made by Kuchenprofi) before I bought this one to add to my kitchen. I love them because I prefer the squeeze-in-the-hand type scoops instead of the ones that use a thumb. I guess that the handle of those thumb lever scoops can give more leverage when trying to scoop hard ice cream. For scooping out ice cream, I prefer to use my Rösle 12741 Ice Cream Scoop .And I love that these scoops are made in Italy and not in the PRC. Unfortunately the web site does not include the portioning size in the description. For this 3" diameter scoop, this is a #10 portioning scoop (stamped on the scoop) which means it take ten scoops to equal one quart. That equals about 3.2 oz or 3/8 cup. A half cup scoop would have a #8 stamped on it.It's made from 18/10 stainless steel which means it is dishwasher safe.PROS:Made in Italy, not in China.Smooth operating squeeze instead of thumb scooping release for either right or left hand use.It is dishwasher safe.CONS:I haven't come across one so far. But with a 3" bowl, it is big.

Good Quality Scoop
I already owned a "20" sized Piazza scoop, which I frequently use to make meatballs and scoop ice cream. Now I bought the "60" size. It's great for cookies. I have owned my larger size Piazza scoop for over 15 years. These scoops are durable and well-made. I picked up another one for my parents.

Appears well-made but...
...the little sprocket at the bottom of the handle tends to jump forward a notch or two, especially when working against something stiff like hard-frozen ice cream. When that happens, the sliding bar inside the scoop doesn't travel the full length of the scoop. So the ice cream, mashed potatoes, rice or whatever it is you're scooping doesn't drop out easily. The assembly is so stiff it's hard to slip the sprocket back to the beginning so that full travel can be restored. It can be done, but I worry that over time it will wear to the point that the jumping happens every time it's used. That will be a real pain - especially for an item as expensive as this was.
