Nexabiotic has all 5 strains recommended by the book "The Brain Maker" by Dr David Pearlmutter
I read the book of Dr David Pearlmutter "The Brain Maker" and he recommends 5 strains. This is the onbly probiotic that contains all of them including the one most missing in other well regarded brands, the Lactobacillus Brevis. Somebody said nexabiotic changed the formula, but they're all here on this one. 5 most important strains are: Lactobacillus plantarum: Found in kimchi, sauerkraut, and other cultured vegetables, this bug is one of the most beneficial bacteria in your body. It survives in the stomach for a long time and performs many functions that help regulate immunity and control inflammation in the gut. It also helps fortify the gut lining, fending off potential invaders that might compromise the intestinal wall and sneak into the bloodstream. In fact, L. plantarum's beneficial impact on the gut lining is perhaps its most important attribute, for it reduces gut permeability, thereby reducing the associated risks for leaky gut-including an increased risk for virtually every brain disorder. Moreover, L. plantarum can quickly digest protein, and this has the ultimate effect of preventing food allergies and even treating such allergies when they arise. Its been shown in experimental animal studies to protect engineered mice from having clinical symptoms of multiple sclerosis and even reduce the inflammatory response typical of that condition. Finally, L. plantarum has an uncanny ability to absorb and maintain important nutrients such as brain-friendly omega- 3 fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants. All of these actions make L. plantarum essential for fighting infection and taking control of any pathogenic bacteria. Lactobaccilus acidophilus: L. acidophilus is the darling of fermented dairy products, including yogurt. It keeps the balance of good vs. bad bacteria in check and in doing so, aids your immune system. In women, it helps to curb the growth of Candida albicans, a fungus that can cause yeast infections. L. acidophilus has also gained fame for its ability to help maintain cholesterol levels. In the small intestine, L. acidophilus produces many beneficial substances that combat pathogenic microbes, including acidolphilin, acidolin, bacteriocin, and lactocidin. Lactobaccilus brevis: Sauerkraut and pickles owe a lot of their benefits to this bug, which improves immune function by increasing cellular immunity and even enhancing killer T cell activity. It's so effective in combating vaginosis, a common bacterial infection of the vagina, that it's added to pharmaceuticals used to treat it. L. brevis also acts to inhibit the effects of certain gut pathogens. Perhaps best of all, it has been shown to increase levels of that all-star brain growth hormone BDNF. Bifidobacterium lactis (also called B. animalis): Fermented milk products like yogurt contain this gem, which is well documented to have a powerful effect on preventing digestive ills and boosting immunity. It's also known to be helpful in knocking out food-born pathogens like salmonella, which causes diarrhea. Bifidobacterium longum: Just one of the 32 species that belong to the genus bifidobacterium, this is one of the first bugs that colonize our bodies at birth. It has been associated with improving lactose tolerance and preventing diarrhea, food allergies, and the proliferation of pathogens. It's also known to have antioxidant properties as well as the ability to scavenge free radicals. In laboratory mice, B. longum has been shown to reduce anxiety. Like L. acidophilus, B. longum also helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels. I hope it helps/ Rita

So glad I found this product!
After three weeks of taking this probiotic, I feel better than I have in quite some time, and I'm so glad I found it. I've been having digestive issues for about a year and a half, and my doctor ordered a few tests to explore the cause. While a couple of the tests came back normal, some of my blood test results were slightly unusual but didn't point to any specific diagnosis and could indicate multiple conditions. I didn't want to immediately begin taking prescription meds and requested to try other options first. I had been taking a probiotic for several months, but as a start to further exploring the root of my ills, one of my doctor's suggestions was for me to try probiotics with three specific ingredients. She said that many probiotics contain one or two but not all three of the ingredients she cited, and sure enough, that turned out to be the case for mine. I didn't really want to buy and take multiple pilIs and was unable to find anything with all three ingredients through national/local pharmacies until I somehow stumbled across DrFormulas Nexabiotic in my online research. It appears to be the saccharomyces that was missing from my former probiotic that is included in this particular blend that has made a difference for me personally. I was hesitant to buy anything ingestible from a company that doesn't sell its products in stores and isn't nationally known, but I did a little research and decided to take the leap. I used to feel bloated and icky randomly for hours on end some days, with my abdomen making some crazy noises from top to bottom, with no clear connection as to what might be causing it. Other days I felt just fine, so I figured I had developed food sensitivities to a lot of things I've always eaten (dairy and certain veggies, mostly) and would just have to cut out a lot of foods I enjoy or deal with the repercussions. It's hard to say I felt better instantly after taking this, because my issues were already sporadic, but if it didn't work instantly for me, it worked within days. It also doesn't have an odd smell or taste and doesn't make me nauseous when taken on an empty stomach like many vitamins and supplements do. While we're not at the end of the journey of diagnosing my specific condition, three weeks into taking this Nexabiotic, I feel normal again most days and with most foods I eat, and when I do have any symptoms, they are very minor compared to what they were before. I have tried to cut back on sweets a little (a little), but I was already doing that anyway most of the time before taking this, so I'm not sure if that has had any effect on how I feel as well. I started out by taking this Nexabiotic at night, but I've found that it works best for me taken on an empty stomach with water first thing when I get up (usually around 4am during the week). I usually don't eat anything (and almost never have a big breakfast) until 2-3 hours afterward, but even if I take it shortly before coffee and a light breakfast snack, it seems to work well and last through the afternoons when I had been having so many issues. I've already bought a second bottle to take to work for days that I might forget to take it at home. In my opinion it's well worth the money from my HSA. DrFormulas Nexabiotic has not entirely eliminated my issues but has significantly reduced my symptoms, and the ones I still have on occasion are much more manageable and less severe. I look forward to seeing my doctor again in a couple months to continue exploring my health condition, and I suspect DrFormulas Nexabiotic will continue to be part of my daily regimen from now on.

A doctor's perspective on probiotics.
Doctors will have two very different opinions regarding probiotics; either they believe they help, or they don't. I happen to be in the category that DOES believe that probiotics can offer some benefit for some people in some situations. There is no such thing as a single pill that will cure all diseases, and the same holds true for probiotics. IF you decide to try probiotics then there are several things you need to consider: 1) amount of bacteria in each dose (measured in colony forming units or CFU). In general the larger the CFU's the better. 2) You also have to consider the accuracy of the labeling (just because the label claims 60 million CFU's doesn't mean it really does -- I know that sounds weird, but because these supplements are not controlled by the FDA there isn't a regulating organization to ensure quality.) 3) The number of different strains of bacteria (some bacterial strains may help one person and not another etc). Here a generally accepted number of different bacteria is around a dozen. Too few and you might not be getting the type you need. Too many and you might not be getting a high enough dose of the type of bacteria you need. 4) Viability of the bacteria. Yes the pill may contain 10 million CFU's but how many of those bacteria are alive and able to reproduce? 5) Even if all the bacteria are alive, how are they going to survive the very inhospitable environment of the stomach that is designed to destroy potential pathogens? After studying and researching a lot on the subject I stumbled on an independent testing lab that has tested dozens of different probiotics. The testing site is labdoor and can be found on the internet very easily. Based on all my research and education along with the testing by labdoor I decided to purchase Dr Formulas Nexabiotic. So, how has it worked so far? I haven't experienced any GI upset after taking the pills, which seems to be a common complaint with probiotics. The pills actually SMELL like bacteria -- not in a sickening kind of way, but rather in a "there's something different with the smell of this yogurt" kind of way. I have also noticed a very noticeable (and improved) smell of flatulance and bowel movements. I know, TMI ! Is this going to cure every disease I have? No. Is this going to make me healthier and help my body function better? I'm hoping so. I can't give a 5 -star review because I'v only been using the product for one week (that's the only reason), so I give the product 4 stars for now and I will try to update more information after longer term use. IF you're going to use probiotics, at least choose a probiotic that has a reasonable chance of helping you. Dr Formulas Nexabiotic is a brand that I can, and will, recommend to patients that may benefit from it's use.

Seriously changed my life!
This is a fantastic product! A little background. I'm a stay at home mom with two young kids and after the birth of our second child, was under a lot of stress. The past year and a half has been the most stressful of my life. I started having panic attacks, developing social anxiety and anxiety in general. I developed stomach aches that would last on and off throughout the day. My face started breaking out (I hadn't had a zit in 10 years!), especially along my jawline and neck, which was super odd. I started feeling like I was living in a haze and couldn't handle things. I went to the doctor numerous times this past year and they did all kinds of sonograms, blood tests, etc., and everything checked out fine. I exercise regularly (yoga), eat well, and am a healthy body weight, so I couldn't understand what was going on with me. I stumbled across an article about probiotics and their effect on anxiety and depression. I became obsessed and started researching. I found out that high levels of stress for prolonged periods can deplete the good bacteria in your gut which in turn can increase the bad bacteria. This can cause mental issues like anxiety and depression, because of the link between your gut and your brain. Promising studies have shown that probiotics can help relieve these mental issues by restoring the levels of good bacteria in your gut. With no adverse effects, I was excited and figured why not try? After researching how to pick the best probiotic, I found this brand to have all the qualities with a good price tag so I bought it. After using it for a week now, I am stunned at how fast it worked for me. The first three days I took one at night and then on the fourth day I upped it to one in the morning on an empty stomach and one at night. The first two days I had a little nausea when I woke up, but dealt with it as a side effect of the good versus bad bacteria battle in my gut. Since the third day, I've had no more issues and take it twice a day. Within the first 24 hours, my acne started clearing up!! I would get these big red cysts on my jawline that would linger for weeks. It's been barely a week and they have almost all disappeared. The best part is I feel like myself again. Sure, kids are stressful and I still have stress, but I don't feel like I want to cry all day. The feeling of being in a haze all day is gone. My stomach aches are gone. I don't feel anxious or on edge anymore. And it's only been a week??! I cannot rave enough about this product. I feel like myself again. I feel like my head is in a better place since taking these. It's amazing the connection between the gut and the brain. I recommend this for anyone!!
