Good ones last a long time, like three four months. **Q: Are there separate chords for hanging and switching on and off?** A: No. While hanging you pull down on the bulb/socket to turn on and off with the hang cord. **Q: how bright is each bulb?** A: We used them last night in a power outage (in pitch night). They were bright enough that we wanted to shield them a little bit. Almost too well! She tied them to the rafters and used them at night.Update: Last night we’ll after sunset the power went out at our house. We grabbed 2 of these bulbs. They were bright enough we didn’t want them to be in the open, so we put them in an old stand lamp (see photo).
