Perfect option for foraying into the world of gold nibs. If one has not used a gold nib before then this is the place to start. Iconic design, precision engineering. There is very little not working in the favour of this pen. It's been around for a very long time and once you hold it you'll know why.

Smooth, enriching handwriting, medium is a bit bold
I purchased this pen from a different vendor and this pen is buttery smooth. No issues with the grip section or filing section. Now, more import things I think you should know:The medium is almost bold size so so it's better to purchase pen with a fine nib. Pen is very very much smooth in writing so use dark inks and less lubricated inks otherwise ink will bleed on paper. I used lapis bard BLUE CURAÇAO ink which bleeds on some papers. No match with the smoothness of this pen. It's smoother than pilot custom 823, even smoother than Montblanc 145. But it is not easy to control the handwriting with such a smooth nibs. It will never give you the scratchy pencil like feeling as most of the sailor pens give.

LAMY 2000 the legend
This is my second Lamy 2000. I bought this because my first one was broken . This is a pen close to my heart. But the new one is leaky. Initially I thought this is may be due to the remaining inks in the body after the filling up. But even after cautious filling and cleaning also it remained to be staining my hands. I know how the original pen behaves as I have been using it since 2017. I doubt it's a original one. With a heavy heart I kept this aside as I am not finding with whom I can talk to get a replacement. Details are no where available. Sorry state of affair.

Grail pen.... But only for enthusiasts
The Lamy 2000 is known to be the pen to own and write with. It's supposed to be the most wonderful Lamy fountain pen. All that is probably true as it looks iconic and different. But in my experience it writes too wet and is hellish to clean and assemble back. You can easily spoil the filling mechanism or nib setting. So if you are an enthusiast with good fountain pen skills then fine but if not, then stick to cartridge or converters pens.

Don’t buy bad quality product
Bad product the problem is the nib. Average packaging done by the supplier. The bad quality product looks like a black marker. Don’t buy. Save your money.
