This late night blooming Cereus grows to about 2 ft height and the blooming lasts only for about 10 hours. In India this beautiful white Lotus-like flowering plant also known as Queen of the night and is reverently known as Brahma Kamal. Brahmakamal is related with the story of how Brahma emerged from Vishnus naval in a Lotus flower. Hindus believe that God Brahma resides the place where this plant blooms and his blessings will bring prosperity and peace to family members. This plant flowers generally in rainy season from mid June to mid October. The phyllocaldes contain some active ingredients and has antibacterial values. The stem is also used medicinally to cure dropsy and cardiac affections. Growing this rare plant of mythological importance is bit tricky and can take months to develop really strong root system. How you will pack the product to ensure safe transportation?** A: In our case, the mother plant started flowering in less than a year. We get at least two blooms in a year. This year got the blooms in July and September. **Q: can u delivery safe & healthy planth** A: Yes. Live plant can be delivered with proper packing. New plants available with us are about 15-20 Cm height. **Q: How to grow lotus seeds** A: Growing lotus from seeds needs care than patience. First thing is scarification (i.e. breaking the thick hard outer shell). Gently break the seed cover slightly with a hammer. Take clean water in a glass and put 4 - 5 seeds. If some of the seeds float in water remove them as they are probably infertile and not likely to grow well. Place the glass in a bright location, away from direct sunlight for 3 - 4 days. Water must be changed every day. If the climatic condition is favourable, on the 4th day (most probably) the seeds start germinating and by 8th/9th day small leaves appear; By this time white roots also start growing; At this stage transplantation can be done in to separate pots. Take FIRST pot (preferably made with mud) without drainage system at the bottom or break at sides. Now mix about 75-80% clay/mud and 20-25% good quality organic compost and make a slurry type mixture by putting water. Make a 1” depth hole in the mud mixture. Take out slowly the lotus plant from glass and plant them in the hole made in the mud mixture. Cover the top with a fine layer of sand as this will help lotus plant to stand erect. Take a SECOND earthen pot of bigger size (without any drainage system) and place the FIRST pot containing the lotus plant in the SECOND pot. Very slowly start filling up water in the SECOND pot. Filling should continue till leaves of lotus plant stand up erect in the water. Now allow the plant to start growing. Once start growing place pots in the bright sunny area.
