At a garden center, loose paperwhite bulbs usually go for $1 each. This kit has five bulbs, a plastic planter, and soil, and sells for $12-13 with Prime shipping. If you're looking for paperwhite bulbs to grow for yourself, you would be better off buying loose bulbs, which I prefer to grow in a glass dish with ornamental stones instead of soil. Growing the bulbs is simple even for those without a green thumb; all you have to do is maintain the water level right near the base of the bulbs. The bulbs contain all of the nutrients already, so they only need water, warmth, and sunlight to grow. If you are looking for a gift, then you'll be hard pressed to create and ship your own kit for less money, but if it's for yourself consider picking up some bulbs, some clean decorative gravel, and a glass container that you can reuse each year.

I ordered 4 bulbs. They were delivered promptly and looked quite good (as far as I could tell). I planted them promptly following the enclosed instructions and some online guidance. Only 2 bloomed and it has been about 4 weeks now. So, I am not certain if these are not great bulbs or if I did something wrong. I will give it a few more weeks and post an update.

They did bloom but didn't last very long.

They sprouted quick and bloom are already on them in less than month. Frankly, i bought them for a gift for my mom and wanted to have the blooming by Xmas, but they came too early! Good problem to have.

We were very disappointed. Only one bloomed, hardly any fragrance. I'll never buy bulbs from them again!

Our granddaughter wanted a flowering kit. She is new to gardening, so I want the best chance of success, and it complied by growing a bit overnight!

We have enjoyed our paper whites so much. They were easy to care for and they all bloomed at the same time.
