Amazing Camera.
Love the camera. I have no idea why people say it uses 3 licenses, as it only uses one on my system. Running is with a Netgear switch and it was running flawlessly from day 1. Configuration was a bit cumbersome, but its worth it considering picture and clarity.

I received this camera and have been having issues with the configuration. A 30W injector does not appear to be enough power to handle the three. Also the camera will use three licenses for your software, be aware of that when you purchases licenses.

The camera has excellent images in 4k/11MP at 30fps/22fps which is awesome when compared to popular competitor cameras around 2.5fps at 5MP. Disappointed this new Axis Q3709-PVE is 3-channels for any VMS which will require three license's when compared to one license for other competitive 4-channel 180-degree cameras. The initial log-in/set-up for this new camera is somewhat confusing as you'll get 3 IP address's for the single camera (compared to competitive cameras with 4-channels you only get one IP). The price point of this camera including additional VMS licensing is on the high-side compared to competitor 180-degree cameras.

Using with Synology as "generic axis" protocol and it does require 26 watts as documented in the manual. I am successfully using an inexpensive TRIPP-LITE router that has it working, but initially I did have problems getting it to come up with a different router. It did, at least, come up enough to give me a message that "this camera requires POE+ or a mid-span adapter" .. I am using the TRIPP-LITE model NG8POE to power this camera successfully. But the first time I hooked it up, it didn't work even on this router, not sure why. I am only guessing, but the case where it only uses a single license would have to be when there is specific support for this camera model designed into your software. That's not currently the case for Synology Surveillance Station as of 10/19/2017. But it is supported up the 8MP per camera as "Generic AXIS" .. i have not tried ONVIF, but I suspect that will work as well similarly to generic Axis camera. These high resolution Axis cameras also have issues with performance if you run apps for motion detection. I have done the motion detection on the synology (for the 1428-E Axis Camera) to get a smoother 30 frames per second, but, in general, that's another thing to be aware of is that if you are looking for high bandwidth results, the apps can reduce the performance of the system built-in to the camera to the extent that the results are unfavorable. This is also documented in the user manual and it just goes with the territory for high resolution cameras as you can only pack so much horsepower into the on-board computer and it's very expensive (compute-wise) to do analytics on this many pixels. What I see this camera as being good for is continuous recording or if you have another way besides image-based to do motion detection for when you want to start and stop recording. I hope that my comments are helpful, and I do think that this is a good camera for the price if it's what you need to be able to capture a gigantic amount of data based on conditions that are generated for a separate motion sensor or camera in the general vicinity that has dedicated motion detection hardware in it. I should also point out that I am not a seasoned professional, I have only been doing this stuff for a short while. So I invite others to add their comments, especially as it relates to better competitive products. But I would give this my seal of approval based on my experience so far.
