brilliant beginning to end.
contains all 5 of the miniseries "iron empires, sheva's war", a sequel to the miniseries, "iron empires". all writing and artwork by christopher moeller.this is a hand painted very clever science fiction story that also has a perfectly balanced and integrated amount of personal drama mixed in. the hero of the story is also a sexy cougar chasing after young dudes to sleep with because she's been bored with what looks like an arranged marriage to a much older man because of his high social and political station. the science fiction includes some truly terrifying and believable creatures terrorizing the humans, while almost never having to resort to "gross out" effects. the pampered, spoiled hero/cougar must get into the muddy war trenches with the common folk who she has been taught to look down on. there is tons of very clever intrigue and brilliant plot twists which i will not give away here.the artwork is profound. very subtle gestures of the characters are captured in paint with seeming effortless fluidity. a wince. a slightly squinted eye. a look of shock. the emotionally charged curling of lips. as well a body language and action. just amazing.as someone who is trying to collect mostly hand painted comics, this one is awesome and a great addition to my collection.

Fanastic
Absolutely fantastic graphic novel. I picked this and "Faith Conquers" up as I had bought Luke Cranes "Burning Empires RPG". The stories and characters in these novel are great and it really makes the rules of the game make sense.Artwork is great and the concept of man fighting off invaders who in this story try to use and overwhelming force and in "Faith" by deception and infiltration. Really good stuff.

eye-popping art and a gripping story
Shiva's War contains gorgeous artwork and a rich story full of three-dimensional characterizations. Moeller's dramatic work is a fine addition to any collection of science fiction graphic novels. Although not the first work in the series, it is fine as a stand-alone work.(After reading it, many buyers will wish to buy Faith Conquers.)The rich universe, created by Christopher Moeller, has recently been adapted into a popular roleplaying game, Burning Empires.

Good art, good story
This is the second book in the series. It collects a few of the original comics, long out of print, under one cover. Together, the pieces here represent a complete story from the longer-running Iron Empires series. This has everything I want in a good comic. The art is strong and painterly, the story makes sense and moves well, and the visual narrative is at least descriptive as the text. The book is well printed, giving Moeller's art every chance to show itself off. Maybe it's not a great comic, but greatness is rare. It's still good.As near as I can tell, these collections of the original DC comics are just coming out now, around the time I write this. I usually like the collected-comic format, because I don't have to wait a month for the story to continue. Now, though, I have to wait for the next collection! Based on what I've seen to date, the wait will be worthwhile.Moeller has done a good job here, and I look forward to seeing more of his work.

Great Writing; Questionable Product Quality
In keeping with Moeller's other work, Sheva's War is characterized by deft and concise characterization in a clever, original, and frightening world. If one had any pleasure in the reading of Faith Conquers, one will appreciate the deeper glance into the milieu development offered by SW.As to why this is three stars and not five, before I finished reading the title (2 hours time) the cover came off. That is, the entire cardboard panel that constituted the front and back covers, and to which the text spine was glued, came entirely removed. A book that cannot survive two hours' handling is of pathetically bad quality, and for that alone I was forced to compromise in my rating.
