A great way to bring DAB radio and quality sound to your car
I've been experimenting with ways to listen to other than just FM radio stations in my (older) car which came equipped with basic Bluetooth (for mobile calls only) and only an AM/FM radio.Until recently, I was streaming stations to my phone and connecting them to my in car audio system via a Bluetooth dongle/FM transmitter - this worked but was obviously using data. With a few long journeys on the horizon I wanted a better solution.I had researched this sort of system previously but was a little apprehensive about the fitting of the auxiliary aerial and grounding it. Then I watched the excellent video produced by Pure and it looked so simple I thought I would give it a go.The Pure 600 was, for me, *the* solution for a simple, straightforward way to bring DAB radio to my car via an existing USB port and auxiliary 3.2mm jack. There is also an option to tune the Pure 600 to an empty channel on your car audio system and use an FM connection if you do not have the aux jack. The Pure 600 can also link (via Bluetooth) to your phone so that you can make and receive hands free calls or play music stored on your device.Out of the box, the Pure 600 looks and feels like a quality product. The box contains all the fittings that you're likely to need to fit and route cables around your vehicle - receiver, controller, mic and a good length of cable. And fitting really was a doddle - I estimate 20 minutes from sitting in the car to a fully installed system listening to Planet Rock! For me, fitting was easy - choose a mount point for the receiver and aerial, connect the receiver to the aerial and mic and route the cables to where they need to be. In my car, the receiver (a small black box roughly 50mm x 40mm) sits nicely on the tinted dark band at the top of the screen so it is almost invisible. The aerial is delicate, self adhesive and equally innocuous. I mounted this vertically, but with hindsight I think I should have gone for a horizontal orientation, also behind the dark strip. Earthing was easy (the aerial has a 'tail' which is magnetic for this purpose) and apparently earthing is optional but highly recommended for best performance; reception is adversely affected without an earthed setup. The unit is controlled via a small wireless controller which can be mounted in a convenient location in the vehicle. Preferably out of reach of the other half! The controller is basic but that doesn't worry me - essentially, once you're tuned it is very rare that you will need to touch the controller.Once all set-up and powered-up the system will auto-tune. Initially, I had 83 stations to choose from which is more than adequate! Pairing with my phone was easy and overall I am very very pleased with the system. Music quality is great from both DAB and the 'phone and calls are clear. One nice thing to note is that you can control playback of music on your device from either the phone or the wireless controller.DAB reception seems very stable - we have a noticeable black-spot in my area and this affects the native DAB reception in the other half's very modern car. It also affects the Pure system - anecdotally, the Pure system was affected for a longer period compared to my wife's car but this is the only time that I have noticed any drop in reception quality.Overall - a great way to bring DAB radio and quality sound to your car.Highly recommended.

Excellent upgrade made easy and inexpensive.
I have a Vauxhall Astra 2013 Sports Tourer and my main issue with it is the lack of DAB Digital Radio and Bluetooth. As many owners know, the audio console in an Astra is nigh on impossible to upgrade or replace without running into serious financial waters so I set about looking for an easier and cheaper option. After a thorough product search and watching countless YouTube reviews of various different models, I settled on the PURE Highway 600 and I couldn’t be happier. This company have a long standing in DAB Radio production so I was fairly comfortable opting for this, and now having it up and running I can see why people rate them so highly. The design is excellent. Everything you need to get it up and running is in the box accompanied by easy to follow instructions. There is also an official PURE YouTube video showing you step by step instructions on fitting which is great, as well as other videos made by customers which have some helpful tips on installation. It works extremely well. I live in a rural location where phone reception can be dodgy but as soon as I powered it up it found 75 stations in seconds. The signal strength is almost at max and the sound quality is fantastic, so much better than the FM on the car stereo.I am using the Aux jack to connect to the receiver which is working great. You can also connect via FM which apparently isn’t as good but still ok. I haven’t tried it so can’t comment. Hands free calling is crystal clear so no problem there. The wireless controller is easy to use and although it’s not the most dynamic display, it does all you need it to do.There is a PURE phone app which accompanies the product that has plenty of helpful info on it and guides you through some set up instructions, really great. My receiver needed a software update which sounds daunting but was actually pretty straight forward. I just downloaded the update to my laptop then brought it to the car and connected it up. Follow the onscreen instructions and sorted, really straightforward.Really cool connectivity to Spotify Premium means you can push a button when you hear a song you like and it saves it to a playlist for you, nice touch. All in all, a great product that delivers and is easy to install and use. Designed and manufactured in the UK too and by all accounts their customer service is excellent.Even if you have the most basic fitting ability then don’t be put off, it’s really straightforward to fit, just take your time. Some places are charging £150 for this plus fitting costs on top so this price is a bargain for such a great product.

Pretty good, but with a few little issues.
To start, it's not an instant on product. The control unit sits wherever you want to put it powered by batteries, which seem to last forever. Bonus.Because its battery powered the control unit turns its display off. It also has NO rolling info like most dab radios.Scrolling through radio stations isn't the easiest because the menus are a little clunky and it doesn't help that the turn dial doesn't always activate a change in menu option.Fitting the antenna was easy and signal is strong.Bluetooth connectivity works fine with my mobile phone, and some music control functionality.Call sound quality is great, volume is a little low, not sure if that's just my car, but mic pickup and sound is clear. The pure go app does what it wants. Mine is setup to auto start when the phone connects to the Bluetooth and android auto starts. The app doesn't want to follow that command and doesn't start. When it's on, the purego app works well with Spotify to log songs you like on the radio. So it's a good function, when it work.Would I buy again, yes. At full price, hell no. With the other options on amazon, would I buy this again, no, I'd buy a £30 to £40 option with scrolling dab info and always on display.
