Design changed - not as great for wide walls as it was.
I needed a replacement door as my old one was worn out and the latch did not work as needed. I ordered one, but found it was slightly different and wanted us to screw some long screws thru the wall (19" wall) to connect and no longer allowed us to screw the inner piect into the wall and then snap the outer piece over it. So I thought I probably needed the one with tunnel (even though we already had the tunnel extension) to do this, because that maybe was built more for screwing to thick walls. I ordered the one with tunnel and two collar magnets. It too was made the same, however, and the 'two collar' is two magnets with ONE collar - misleading.I am not sure why they changed the design or how they expect us to get a long screw thru the wall and into the hole in the plastic piece inside. Old design was much better. We adapated it ourselves to make it attach to the wall more easily and securely. The door seems to go one year or two and then need replacing. And we sometimes have to fiddle with the latch in between as it gets gummed up with cat hair and then doesn't work - but can be cleaned and adjusted and works again for around two years and then just wears out and doesn't work any more. We replaced this one because neighbor cat forced his way thru and broke it. When it does work, it's great and keeps skunks and neighborhood cats out. I only wish there was a technology that married face recognition with this door so cat counldn't bring mice in with him. That would be worth some extra money!

Very convenient for outdoor cats
Now my cat can go outside without me having to open the door constantly! What could be better. The only downside that I've noticed is that occasionally when she comes back in from outside, the door won't close completely, allowing the potential for other animals to follow her in. It's never happened, but I suppose it could. The construction is solid, installation was easy and it only took a couple of days for my cat to figure out how to use it. Great product.Review update:So it's been about three months since I installed the PetSafe Staywell door for my cat, and I have some updated comments on the product. My five star review remains in place, as I am still quite satisfied with how well the door works. Two times now I've had local raccoons attempt to get into my room through the door, and the lock has successfully prevented them from entering. The door fits snugly enough that the coons were unable to get their claws around the edge to pull it open, despite their repeated attempts.I do think that, due to the relative light weight of the door, it needs additional weight to assure it closes properly. I attached a slight amount of weight to the inside of the door, and it has helped to ensure that it closes tightly and securely each time my cat passes through.

The door works well except for a serious flaw.
The door installs easily with the right tools. The magnetic unlocking system works very well also to keep unwanted animals out.The first minor problem is that they are very loud when your pet goes through. The door bangs and clacks heavily. This is a problem at night if you or your children are sleeping, as it can wake you up. This happened a couple of times to our baby, which was very annoying. Now for the major flaw. There is a select wheel that determines how the gate opens. One way, two ways, or closed. It is positioned in a terrible spot. Sometimes when your pet runs through the gate, they can step on this wheel switching it to the closed position. We found this out the hard way one day when we got home and the cats were locked inside the house. They ended up peeing on and ruining our bedroom mattress and a chair.I tested this flaw several times with the cats, and every so often it would be locked again. I ended up filing off the locking mechanism so that it wouldn't be a problem anymore.Needless to say, we were very disappointed with this door. It was a very expensive lesson.

A bit surprised.
Manufacturer did not put a hinge on one side of the door. Sent it back will pick one up in a store so I can make sure it is alright, we need this now to replace an old one that the latch stopped working. We've had this brand for a while - you get about 5-6 years out of them then then have to replace. Moore pet doors have better choices but we have cats with magnet collars to keep out strays and there aren't a lot of brands that carry cat doors with that feature.

It breaks easy
I've had different cat flaps on my life I've never had one more broke within three months the rubber come off the door was loose the flap should I say it is totally useless I can't get a hold of the sellerr to up top to them so now left with a problem a heart with caps coming through my cat flap and peeing everywhere in my home I thought this would solve the problem because it was a good cat flap but I was wrong now I have to write a review until all the people how it goes instead of getting contact with the seller because the seller I cannot speak to there's no way2 contacts them and very disappointed now I have to folk out more money to get probably from a different seller unless this cellar comes forward and replaces itπ‘

I Wouldn't buy Staywell again!
Arrived covered in factory installed stickers that are difficult to remove, even with white spirit etc. The whole product is ruined by Staywell themselves. When you do remove one of the larger stickers, that has to be removed from the clear door in order to operate the cat flap, it pulls the opaque frosting off the clear plastic door....the result is, the door looks a mess, it looks used, dirty and scruffy. The other stickers placed on the Brown plastic surround took over an hour to painstakingly remove, which then left Black marks and residue that will not come off. These were not 'old' or 'aged' stickers whereby the glue had gone off or cured in place, they were fresh stickers that were moronically put in place by Staywell themselves with a very strong type of adhesive completely ruining the appearance of their own product. I'm moving house and installed this in an attempt to make my original cat door installation look neat and tidy. To add insult to injury, the 'Magnetic' mechanism is very unreliable, it allows my cat through the door appropriately 70% of the time. The other 30%, the magnetic catch doesn't operate at all, not even when I've tested it with a selection of spare Staywell collar magnets that i bought seperately and I've placed in every position conceivable to test the door etc. It really doesn't fill you with confidence. I need 5x cat doors on my new premises to give our cat free movement in outbuildings , a garage and our new house. I will not buy Staywell cat doors in the future but had to in this case as it was a replacement and the "Staywell" aperture was already cut in the door.
