It may work for some, but it definitely did not perform as described for me. ### ⭐⭐⭐ With required prep and soil, sod is a better value. *by J***S on July 18, 2026* I prepped the ground and laid quality top soil which cost roughly $50 cents per square foot. I then rolled out the mat and watered it per instructions. Yhe instructions said "no need to stake it down. The matt apeared to stick to the soil when it was wet. I was impressed. The wind picked up a bit that night and when I checked on the Matt it had blown away and was crumpled against a brick wall. I straightedge it out and my wife suggesred that I put more top soil on top of it. That sounded like good advice, so I did. At this point I have spent $1 per square foot on top soil and 1$ per square foot on the mat. I realized I coukd have just bought sod for $2 per square foot instead. After another week of great quality thunderstorm rain water and GA sunshine, I had some good grass in a few areas that came up.
