Beautiful And Functional Dutch Oven
I waited months before getting this Dutch oven. I was on the fence about whether or not our household truly needed one. And since we live in a New York City apartment, we only had space for one size, so it was a 5.5-quart or 7-quart. We settled on 5.5-quart because it is Staub’s best-selling size, along with being the right size for the space we have. I chose graphite gray because it matches our household aesthetic better and goes well with Staub's silver animal knobs. The color looks great, and the glossy finish throughout the cocotte is smooth without any manufacturing flaws. Using this requires reading through a thick mini instruction manual first—if you want your cocotte to last a lifetime. Basically, preheat it on low heat for five minutes before heating it hotter; you don’t want to go from cold to high heat too quickly. There is also a good Staub video on YouTube explaining the best practices for treating this cocotte to last. Using it has been useful in certain applications. We deep-fry fries and chicken, and this retains the oil temperature a lot better than a non-stick pot. You don’t have to wait as long for oil to heat back up. We also use it for soups and find that soups seem to taste just a little better being cooked in this. Overall, it's a few months later, and I think I made the right decision to get one and to get this size. I customized mine with the Staub lobster knob. We use this at least once a week, and it is a joy to use. There is some anxiety in my head about making sure this stays spotless for all time, but that’s my neurosis. Recommended!

Excellent quality and cooking results👌🏼
Our son gifted me a STAUB enameled skillet for Mother’s Day. It’s been a joy to use. I wasn’t happy that the second use was my husband frying potatoes and burning them a little bit to the pan. But I added hot water and left it sitting on the hot burner and it cleaned up quite easily an hour or so later. So now my husband is letting me add more STAUB cookware to build our collection. We’ve been using the 4 quart and 7 quart pots this week and we have a smaller 7 inch frying pan coming soon. We plan to add several more pieces this year. I have been using Lodge cast iron for around 15 years. However, a gene mutation called hemochromatosis has been discovered in my paternal and probably maternal family ancestry. It results in too much iron in the body. One of my cousins died from it when he was 32. He thought he had the flu, was hospitalized and was gone a week later. You can’t mess around with this defect. I have suffered the past 11 years with severe joint pain. During a three month time period it began and started getting a lot worse. Joint pain is one of the key symptoms of hemochromatosis because the tiny iron particles get in the joints. They also get in the organs, which is not good. So in all the research I’ve done it turns out that the only ways to treat hemochromatosis is monthly blood letting and doing everything you can to prevent as much iron as possible from getting in your body. We also have to get a whole house iron filter for our well water. I will not be doing monthly blood letting. Aluminum and 304 food grade stainless steel are all toxic with heavy metal ions. And in my research, I just recently learned that Lodge cast-iron is made in China and is not guaranteed to be free of cadmium, nickel, tin, manganese and other heavy metals. I know for sure that I am allergic to nickel and manganese is just super bad for everyone. So the only alternatives to raw cast-iron is enameled cast-iron or copper. Copper is good because it has antibacterial properties. You need copper in your body. I take a zinc/copper supplement every day. But it does not have the same heating capabilities as enamel cast iron and is not 100% free of other heavy metals unless you can find absolutely 100% guaranteed pure copper which is just as expensive as enameled cast iron. Although I do love the beauty of copper cookware, and don’t even mind the patina, I opted for enamel cast-iron. I have been a follower of health guru Barbara O’Neill for several years now and enameled cookware is also what she uses. The knowledge she shares has been very, very helpful to my family and me. Next thing to change is getting rid of our stainless steel dinnerware utensils and replacing them with silver, which Barbara also uses.

Beautiful & Funcitonal
I had been wanting a new dutch oven for a long time, and I decided to splurge on this one. I've baked bread in it multiple times, and made some really yummy stews. It gets extremely hot, so you need to monitor closely when cooking. You can most definitely see the difference with Staub and Le Creuset cookware. They're sturdy, durable and very well made. With proper care, they will last a lifetime. I have other Staub and Le Creuset cookware, and the quality is great as well. Just be aware that they're very heavy before you even cook anything, so get ready to use some muscle. I'm happy with my purchase, and I would definitely recommend! Happy cooking!

Fantastic Dutch Oven!
Bought this for my mom for xmas. She loves red and is now in love with dutch oven cooking. Heat retention on this thing is incredible. She uses a gas cooktop and loves this for its ability to be used on almost everything. Very Versatile. WIN!

This pot is the Bomb! Cherry color is AMAZING!!!
I bought a 9 Quart, round Staub, in Basil and the green color is very pretty. The 9 quart is VERY heavy, if you are not super strong, think about lifting that pot out of a low oven, filled with food! I wanted a smaller pot and looked at Staub pots, trying to decide~ for 2 months! I narrowed it down to this beautiful Staub pot in color "Cherry"! It arrived and my husband and I lifted it out of the packaging and both stopped breathing, it was so gorgeous!!! The finish is two shades of red. It is like my little red corvette in the kitchen!! The first dish that I made in it was Chicken tikka masala from Cooks Illustrated. It was amazing! Both the pot and the recipe! If you plan on making the dish, order a wonderful gramm masala from a good spice place! I can't wait to create more wonderful meals for my husband and myself in this gorgeous pot!! We are thrilled with the look and performance and feel that it's so much prettier than Le Creuset's red.

Not Durable
I purchased this item as it was listed as durable and does not chip. I gave to my wife for Christmas and after approximately four (4) uses a piece of the lid fell off while being hand washed. Understand my wife treats her pots and pans as if they were her babies. She puts plastic dividers between all her pots so they do not get scratched. The lid has not been dropped, banged, nor has it been hit or hit anything. the chip just came off as she wiped it with the wash rag.

Excelente cocotte

Really impressed! But watch height.
Got this 28cm in grey, it's a great looking well finished piece. Heavy and feels of highest quality. Easy to clean inside and out. Got for £141 and feels like a bargain for a lifetime piece like this. Made braised chicken and a roast beef so far. Both turned out incredible. NOTE this thing is pretty tall and the only way I could get it to fit in my neff double (main large) oven was to lower the oven wire rack onto the oven floor. Works but definitely won't be fitting anything else in there with it. So be aware of this if you've a double oven. Other than that, very happy! Will also be buying the shallower version if/when it comes back on sale as it'll be versatile and lower in height.
