I sue it in multi- media artwork to glue down background papers and to protect layers as I’m building them up. You can paint, write, and generally color over this medium as though it’s a base layer. It leaves a slightly glossy finish so it can also double as a varnish. The medium dries reasonably fast provided it’s not overly thick.
