Do the holes have threads so you can screw in a bolt?

Yes. The gauge is a thin piece of plastic and each hole is threaded. There is, of course, a limited number of threads because the plastic is thin. I believe it should be used gently to avoid damaging plastic threads. I believe it will be useful for identifying whether a screw has one standard thread (such as 1/4-NC20) or another standard thread (such as 1/4-NF28), but I don't think it can be used to finely test accuracy of threads cut on a lathe. I have not had an occasion to use it yet.

what is the thickness of this gauge?

My micrometer says it's about a quarter inch. The only caveat is it is a polymer gauge, good news is that means it's durable and can flex around truly messed up screws and bolts; the bad news is it's not super precise because it's not stainless or Ti. For example it might be hard to discern a 24 vs. 28 pitch thread, but in my experience in the machine shop it determines the right threading well especially when you are trying to match a screw that's broken, old or damaged.

will this guage work for very small computer screws ?

Yes! The guage goes down to M1.4 which is much smaller than any fastener that your going to find in any computer. The guage also has inch sizes down to #0 (.060 inch). Mike

The pitch is for metric screws.

Info on both sides, and high quality plastic

My very fist review after years. Lazy!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars with a caveat - For the cost and overall function, this is great. I don't think you will find anything better. I have several screw and nut thread gauges, but these are in a large case, and not convenient to use for checking a couple of bolts/screws for daily needs. These smaller gauges like the BCP are perfect.I would have gladly paid more for a thicker unit, so there are a couple more threads. I also wish there was a measuring section for the length of bolts.It comes with information on both sides: One side includes ANSI and metric size and thread information (also drill), and the other side has tap. Includes both N.C and N.F. for ANSI - excellent!Easy to read and high quality platic. I have printed many different gauges, but they all pale in comparison. For $10, its one of my favorite tools.

Great Gauge

I was looking for inexpensive gauge for small metric bolts. I was leary about this one but now that I have it, it is great. I is plastic but it does have threads. As long as you are careful with it, it should last a long time. I'm very happy with it because it measures down to very small bolts. Worth the price, for sure.

Works as intended but I really wished this was not plastic

I was looking tirelessly for specific tiny laptop screw online wasted 4hrs got no where...i cannot believe i could of saved hours guessing screw size and threading type, this really works and takes the guess work out.It would be a really nice tool if its made of some sort of aluminum or stainless steel, only time will tell.

works fine and is what is advertised

Works well for what it is, but it needs directions to tell you what everything it does. It is two sided and if you don't know everything there is to know about screws, nuts, and bolts, it is hard to use. I purchased this item to separate screws that were in a big pile, that I had received from a friend.
