Signature by Ashley must have taken note of customer experiences/frustrations mentioned in Amazon reviews Bc there was only one sticker on my stool; & not in a noticeable area of the seat bottom. Instructions say “2 or more needed to assemble.” I Don’t understand what they’re talking about. I assembled it by myself...& quite easily. Also...bc reviews were warning buyers to remove a plastic “plug,” I almost busted the mechanism that raises/lowers the seat! No plastic plug on the stool stem except the one that’s supposed to be there; so, leave it. You just have to get a feel for pressure on the lever. To lower the seat...sit on it & lift the lever. It’s super comfy & classy looking! Very pretty stool.

We bought these barstools knowing we might not have them for long. Barstools are extremely expensive at any store you walk into, but we needed something now. They were easy to assemble, but they are not as durable as we were so wishfully thinking they would be. I'm not upset about our purchase, since the chairs are still fully functional. But out of the three we bough, one of the seats has already lifted from the side of the based, and one of them won't go upward anymore, so we just have some uneven barstools now. I don't regret buying them, since the price was good, but if you have a house full of kids, I do not recommend. We have an 11-year-old and us, and somehow the one chair has still managed to give out on us. They still look nice, so we aren't bothering with replacing them at this point, but we know we will have to at some point.

These chairs look great and were pretty easy to assemble (just pay attention to the type of screws and where they go for aesthetics). My only complaint is that the faux leather is very smooth so if you're wearing something smooth you can slide around or off :-). The curved sides are good but I'm a bit on the larger side so had to get used to those cradling the hips, making it a bit more difficult find the comfortable spot. But overall am very happy, and as I said, they look great!

I use the stools around my pool table in the basement. They're really good looking furniture. The height adjustment is easy to use, but we keep them at the lower heights. At the highest adjustment the stool feels top-heavy and not quite safely balanced. I'm 6'2", and even I have hop up to climb into the stool at full height. If I used them in front of a bar, maybe the support of having the bar close would eliminate the sensation of tipping over

The overall look of these is great, but the fasteners included stripped immediately. The plastic ring that is meant to protect the shaft won’t stay attached to the seat base and uneven weight (even momentarily) triggers the lift mechanism. Edit: Lowering by another star. I’ve found that the weld is weak enough (after about a year), that the foot rest on one of the stools is about to break. Edit 2: Lowering to a single star. Would give less if I could. The footrest has completely broken off, leaving a jagged edge and the support itself speaks constantly.

This is my 36+ month and final update. I just moved to a new place and I am using the stools at their lowest position now. Since replacing the strut the strut squeaks incessantly against the base, every movement in the stool is a reminder of why I bought these. Hopefully you never have to replace the strut(s). Other than that, the padding on the seating surface has almost completely collapsed and is hardly noticeable. I would avoid these stools and find something else to sit in. These look way better than they perform. Thanks to all for listening. 24-month update. I've added one more star but don't click the buy now button just yet. After the gas/hydraulic struts failed on both stools I called Ashley and they sent me out 2 new replacement struts. Still not out of the woods yet. The removal of the old struts can be a challenge but can also easily damage the base plate at the bottom. In swapping both mine out there is now play between the strut and the base plate, so when you sit in the stool it sways in all directions, making the stool feel very cheap despite the "look". I decided to update this review as people still mark it as helpful. It's quite possible Ashley has updated the strut by now or at least I hope they have. Here we are 2 years later, the stools still work as intended but now there's just that swaying that will never go away. 14-month update - Stay away, stay far away! After only 14 months neither of the two stools I purchased will keep from compressing all the way down. They are absolutely useless now. Spend more elsewhere and be happier. I'll be quick as your time is precious. These stools look great, modern and comfortable (if your hips are narrow). These stools can be as tall as "spectator height" which are hard to find and my living space requires this type of stool. I felt like this was my only option, I don't have a traditional sit-down dinning area. Would I buy again? No way. These stools have lost their ability to keep their set height. They will actually go down/lower when you are sitting in them. Whether the gas/hydraulic cylinder is bad, has worn out or the o-rings are subpar, this is not a long term stool. I thought maybe it was just one that was bad? But both I purchased are doing this. Sure I can pull the lever on the side and return the stool to its desired height but it only takes a few moments for the cylinder to begin failing again

Use every day

Ordered four of these chairs and they showed up defective-- the faux leather, instead of being black, was mottled, faded reddish brown and black; the wood was chipped and nicked. The boxes were packed in such a way that it seemed as if someone had already returned these 4 chairs. I spent hours on the phone arranging to send these back and get replacements. The replacements showed up immediately and... the faux leather was NOT black, as it should be! It was still the faded mottled reddish brown and black, but the chairs were all packed "properly" as if no one had returned them. I could not bear to go thru the same hours on the phone trying to exchange these four, so we kept them, even though the faux leather is wrong. They do have fewer nicks in the wood. The chairs, once assembled (very easy) are comfortable to sit in, although for short people, the foot rest is too low to reach. One must be super careful not to allow the wood to bump the hard surface of the bar or counter (so if you're close to it, do not turn the chair at all!), or it will be nicked and the white inside of the wood will be quite visibly apparent. So I give these chairs a 3 for comfort (because the footrest is too small and too low and it's not comfortable to sit with one's legs dangling) and a ZERO for the faux leather not being shiny black like in the photos of the item. I have not been able to get a good photo of the faux leather to show what it looks like, but would love to hear from others if their chairs also have faux leather that is not shiny black like in the photos of the item.

This chair is great, easy to put together, looks nice, comfortable. But, I've had it three months and the foot rest just broke on one end where it's soldered to the main part of the chair. It'll be easy to weld back together, but still.

These are NOT black leather like shown in the ad. Extremely disappointed as they do not match the decor of my home.

Love the design, Do not buy it if you think the chair is all black there is a pattern on the seat and back. and the seat part is different not as shown in the picture.

The black seat of stool has a dark brown hue, and once you have the setting for stool we’re you desire it loses its position.
