How do you tension the spring

The 2 pins you with it put one in the hole in the bottom,one in the top then with the bar turn clockwise, as you turn it tension will come PLEASE PUT ON EYE PROTECTION THE PIN CAN FLY OUT.

We have a gate that slams shut in the wind. Could we use these to slow down the closing of the gate?

Yes you could but if I don’t put the latch on my gate it still can be opened by the wind

The 2 small metal geomnet bits would make sence if there was anywhere to put them

They push into the holes in the round metal pieces that sit in each end of the spring to keep the spring in tension where you want it.

Is this any good for a iron gate

Wasn’t much good on wooden gate so wouldn’t chance it
