PumpSpy "Silent" Sump Pump Check Valve, 1-1/2"

Wow! Just Wow! This check valve is so incredibly silent. I have a main sump pump and a backup pump. I had a "klunkless" check valve on each. It was made by a different company and looked different -- black with a separate cylindrical side-chamber that pointed upward. It claimed to be "klunkless" but it wasnt. I replaced both of those check valves with these made by Raybend and there is no more "klunk." It doesnt make any noise at all. Wonderful product that performs just as marketed, and so easy to install with very clear, easy to follow directions with measurements and everything. I highly recommend this silent check valve. Its wonderful.

The water hammer in my sump pump was getting so bad (and loud) that it was actually loosening the clamp connections on the check valve. The day I took a look at it and water squirted out of one of the connections and sprayed me was the day I started shopping for solutions.Confession time: I actually bought another product first, one that required purple primer and glue fittings. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of that much effort, but I was desperate. USPS to the rescue! They lost the package, Amazon gave me a refund, and I got to re-order. This time I saw the Raybend product with flexible connections and stainless hose clamps. Second time's the charm.It arrived today and it literally took me more time to walk to the mailbox to get it than it did to install it.I plugged the sump pump in and held my breath. Amazing. I want to be clear, this device didn't diminish the water hammer, it didn't dampen it, it completely eliminated it. When the pump stopped, there was NO SOUND AT ALL. Zip, zero, nada.As I've been writing this review, I've heard my sump pump cycle twice. Just the faint hum of the pump motor. And then no sound. I'm still braced for the sound of a bowling ball being dropped and dishes rattling, but I'm just going to have to get used to the silence!

Replaced my noisy sump pump check valve with this one. There are several great features about this one:1. Its spring loaded so its quiet(er)2. Its clear so you can tell if its working3. It uses rubber fittings and clamps instead or requiring PVC solvent and cleaner. That makes replacing it much easierOverall good design and has been working well for about 6 months in the basement right under our bedroom. No more bang everything it shuts.

I couldn't believe these were actually working when I first hooked them up. I have two sump pumps, a primary and a backup. I replaced the check valve on the primary pump first. When I fired up the pump, I couldn't hear any water rushing through the check valve, and it made absolutely no sound when the valve closed. The basic check valve installed by the plumber on my new construction house had a significant "Bang" every time it closed, which is every 42 seconds with the amount of water flowing into my sump crock. I knew I didn't want to live with that sound more than 80 times per hour, so I searched for silent check valves. These are perfect! I send a photo of the box and an installed valve to my builder and told him they was no noise at all from them, and he said he'd pass on the info to his plumber for use in his houses going forward. If you currently have a check valve bang, replace it with one of these and the problem will disappear.

The valve was easy to install the valve aka flipper with spring seems a bit to strong but I could see why you want stronger spring if you mounted this horizontal rather vertically. But far as vertical the force from pump below has to push open valve which I didn't measure seemed like at least 5 lbs if not more. The valve seemed very durable I like see through to see water is not having issues. The actual seal seemed to have plastic on plastic with no rubber or difference in high or low such as a tapper just sits flat with strong spring. It seems like it probably work a long time then slowly have an issue with sitting flat but who knows. At least you can see if issue or bubbles happen.

This took me a five minutes to install because all I had to do was unscrew my old check valve and replace with this one. I installed it horizontally. Did not use any glue or cement. completely took away the thumping noise after the sump pump goes off.I heard stories of these silent check valves not working after a few months so I will report back if this happen.After day 1 of installing it I am super happy with this silent check valve. The relief of not having to hear the loud thumping was totally worth the twenty some dollars and five minutes I paid for this.

Got a different style "silent" check valve from Home Depot last year that worked great for about 3 cycles then emits the loud clunk. Took it apart and drained it, reinstalled and same thing happened. After living with it for a year I picked up this valve. Works like a champ, no noise at all. Even made me get up in the middle of the night to check it as I couldn't hear it and I knew the basement was taking rain. My only hope is that the inner spring is made of a decent metal that won't corrode being wet all the time. I'll update my review if it breaks. No noise though!

You can see any obstruction and clean it. Good idea. Saves energy.

I bought this check valve for my sump pump replacement project. The check valve was very easy to install. It is important to measure and cut the right size of opening in the outlet pipe to prepare for the check valve installation. I managed to get this exactly right, making the installation "easy as pie". Of course, time will tell if leaks develop around the joints, and how durable the product is (it has a 2-year warranty). Our sump pump seldom runs, so wear and tear shouldn't be an issue for some time. The one issue that was annoying was that I ordered the valve on November 27th and it didn't arrive till December 29th. It got hung up with the customs broker, or Canada Post, or a combination of the two, for 12 days. It wasn't clear to me when I ordered it that it would be coming from outside Canada (from the US).
