Good safety item for climbing, Solid and functional
This is a well-made climbing equipment that played a huge role in my last climb. If I use ATC when I grab the rope in panic, I wouldn't be here to tell you this story. It will allow for a proper rappel descent by applying more or less pressure to the handle, neither completely depressing nor completely releasing the handle that will only make you immobile. We all make mistakes, but in climbing a mistake can be deadly. This is an extra barrier of safety, recommend.

Easy to use Descender
I use this this descender exclusively for rappelling down a 100 ft 45 degree hill to a river bank to cut down trees along the way and access a remote area. I use 10 mm static line (not hanging or climbing) with full climbing gear. Have used about 2 dozen times so Far with no issues.

Christmas Light Safety
So the highest pitch of my roof is 32ft. I really didnโt want to kill myself hanging Christmas lights so I decided to tie a rope to a tree in the backyard and drape it over the house to hook into with a harness and the Ito Rocky Climbing Belay. Needless to say the plan worked flawlessly. When I was on the ladder it secured me in case of a fall. At points I actually relied completely on the device while I was on the roof. I could hang by it and let myself down using the handle. Awesome!

5 stars for delivery of junk
This is a very poorly designed device. For those who say it works so well I say that's absolute rubbish the device can't work or Caribbean gets in the way of the handle fight with the Rope it's it's junk should be ashamed of themselves people could seriously be injured or die using this piece of crap period

Really only good for descent
I bought this to work on a nearly vertical slope, and because Rope Runners have become impossible to find. This was an inexpensive alternative, so I decided to give it a try. I'm using an 11mm rope. This device was very easy to use for decent, which makes sense since this bobbin is actually designed for cave work. However, it's listed as also for ascent, and it just isn't useful for that. It's design makes it almost impossible to ascend and take up the free slack with one hand. The slack can only be taken up while engaging the handle, which takes two hands, and even then it is difficult. So isn't very practical. I would not recommend this device if you need it to ascend as well. Get a Rope Runner. Also note, these are not actually rated for belay work, due to the high impact stress that can be applied. This is a descender, plain and simple. Pros: Works fine for descent and locks off well.
