What a fascinating series! Such an interesting history of the world famous ships of the past. I have watched many programmes on satellite channels with Rob Bell, and was even more impressed with his knowledge, enthusiasm and easy manner in this series. History has come alive and is so much more thought provoking than just reading it from a book. Credit must also be due to the articulate and knowledgeable contribution from professor Eric Grove. Fancy HMS Victory nearly consigned to the scrapyard. Whilst many of the ships were used in warfare, I have to admire the construction of such vessels, and their long service under difficult conditions. I wish that there was another series. Brilliant!

Excellent well presented value for money collection of documentaries focussing on the history of significant old ships (Mary Rose, Golden Hind, HMS Victory, SS Great Britain and HMS Belfast. Pity HMS Warrior could not have been included but the quality of the programmes makes up for it.
