Review: Helped My Niece Better Understand Emotions - I bought this for my niece who has been having angry out bursts and breakdowns. She has been dealing with some adult issues recently and I wanted to find a way to help her better understand herself and others around her. She couldn't get enough of this book. Her mother is wonderful and worked with her and says it got her to begin understanding how anger feels vs other emotions, how she acts and what alternatives she can use when angry about something. It also helped her understand anger in others and realized she was misunderstanding how others were reacting to her. She's a wonderful 8 year old who is very aware of what is happening around her but just needed some direction on what it means to her emotionally and have her options on how to cope the best she can. I highly recommend this book! Kids are full of questions and we're should be the ones to help guide them. If you don't know how, use resources like there's or inquire with others but first and foremost, listen to what your kids are saying about the world around them and engage in conversation. The most impressionable years on their lives are up to age 7. Take advantage and communicate. Best of luck to all those who have kids. You have the worlds future in that child. God Bless Review: Great book - I bought this for my classroom and have actually made copies for my own kid.

Great tool
My son has had really bad anger and rage issues for the last 2 years. We have tried pretty much everything from calming techniques, contact sports, counseling, etc. Nothing seemed to even slightly help. However we have seen a dramatic improvement since using this workbook. We are only on the 5th activity but he is starting to recognize his anger more and enjoys working in it. I can tell you the first time we told him about it and the first activity sheet was a very very rough go. I am excited to see how he will be at the end of the entire workbook. Personally I think the book looks super cool, fun to work through and very colorful and kid friendly. Great teacher about anger and even explains it in a biological way

Valuable tool, fosters communication
My daughter and I are only partway through this book, but it has already sparked some great conversations and helped us to understand each other and our feelings better. My daughter is working through some tough feelings, and this is helping.

Helping kids find their way
This helpful workbook is destined to be used by many counselors and parents as it covers a wide spectrum of issues. It’s a tool that will likely get repeated use, and it keeps mindfulness in the background as it helps adults work towards solutions and/or develop strategies. Each section begins with an introduction that provides insights for adults, followed by three to five exercises for kids. Although each exercise has spaces where answers can be written and pictures drawn, it’s likely many of these will be conducted orally, as counselors decide what’s appropriate for each situation. Some representative examples of the sections include: What Else Can Anger Be, with corresponding exercises on getting to know fear, sadness, and disappointment; and Who Makes Me Feel Angry, with four sections that include When Things Get Hard at Home, and Conflicts at School. Parents who purchase this book may find it provides insights into situations they are seeing at home. In some cases, simply being able to recognize the issue(s) is useful and act upon it may be enough, but in other cases the questions may help to highlight an underlying cause or to suggest a situation is escalating and professional help would be useful. Any tool that helps adults support a child’s emotional development is useful, provided it is adapted to individual cases. Author Samantha Snowden has a master’s degree in clinical and educational psychology and extensive experience.

10 and older
This book provides useful insights on anger management, but it is not ideally suited for younger children. I would recommend it for children aged 10 and older, as the content and language are more appropriate for that age group. Younger readers may find it less engaging and harder to relate to. There are other books available that better capture the attention of younger children while helping them understand and manage their emotions.

This really works!
Wow, I didn't realize this book would help us as much as it did. My 7-year-old son had always had anger issues. He is developmentally behind on frustration management and flexibility. We have spent years with daily explosions that often involve physical expression. He is a very sweet kid, just hasn't known how to deal with his anger and frustration. We have read every thing we can find on the subject and nothing ever helps. This book was my last attempt before seeking professional help. We have been doing it 2-3 times a week for four months. The first chapters taught us about anger, which was helpful, but didn't really solve our explosion issues. As we have gotten into the later chapters, though, there has been a huge difference in my son's ability to manage his feelings. We went from daily explosions to almost none in the last two months. My son still gets angry, but more often can calm himself before it escalates into uncontrollable rage. This book has taught us so much and has been a life saver. My whole family is happier. I highly recommend trying this book!

Excellent book to support kids with anger issues
This anger management workbook has been a great tool for both me and my child. It helps us identify trigger points and really guides us through understanding and managing emotions in a healthy way. Going through it together has opened up meaningful conversations and has made a real difference in how we both handle frustration and anger. It’s not just for the child, it's a shared journey, and the workbook makes it easy to follow and apply in daily life. Highly recommend for any parent looking to support their child emotionally while also learning alongside them.

This was a great tool inside with my step son who I would see every other weekend. It has definitely helped improve his anger and he often references some of activities we did together.
