Amazon seems to have fixed a few things
First of all, the assembly instructions start on page 32 or so. Why it doesn't give the parts list and then the instructions is anyone's guess, but they are there. I bought this heater even after reading the bad reviews because it was "used like new" from Amazon warehouse and a great price at almost 1/2 off a new one. Upon unpacking, I found no split tubing because it appears the manufacturer added a plastic ring at the bottom of the heating element which keeps that from happening. I also had no issue with burning paint, because mine doesn't have paint below the heating element, although the rest is the Brazilian bronze color. No dents or dings either, although the USPS made me go pick it up at the post office because it is too big for their trucks. I'd prefer Amazon not use the USPS in the future. BUT, and that's a big BUT, it is WAY TOO TALL. Like others, I ended up having to cut the pole that attaches to the heating element. It was as tall as the eave of my roof when I initially put it together. I'm wondering how anyone can feel heat from it if they are seated? So, I grabbed the hack saw and chopped about 8" off the pole. One review stated that he just left the second pole out of the build, but mine would not work that way as I couldn't get one pole inside the other without the second piece. 🤷♀️ The whole thing took me about 3.5 hours, including cutting the pole by hand with a hack saw, working alone...and I'm a 52 year old woman. I'll still need to find a way to bolt the two poles together since I had to cut off the screw holes. Pretty easy fix but time consuming. I'll get something to bolt it together soon because that's important. I filled it with landscaping pebbles rather than water or sand; no mess! So far, it has no propane leaks, it lit right away, and feels nice since it is closer to where we sit. It is a tad bit noisy, but it's just the propane flowing normally so that's not a complaint. I hope it continues to do well and lasts. I'll update if not. I will say that had I paid full price, I might be a bit more critical of the assembly experience, especially the height. Amazon had their manufacturer fix almost everything reviewers complained about. Now if they'll fix the height it will be even better.

Problem Solving Is A Must
Yesterday evening after my wife and I assembled an entire 5 piece set of patio furniture in about 45 minutes I figured I could quickly assemble the heaters we had purchased here from the Ole Amazon. I figured it would be quick and simple. I opened the box, got out all the parts, laid everything out in an orderly fashion, and then grabbed the manual that came in the box with the heater. Opened the manual assuming I'd find the instructions on how to assemble. That's where things went sideways! After flipping through the manual pages several times I realized there are in fact ZERO instructions on the assembling of the heater. So I came to the Ole Amazon and confirmed after reading several other reviews there are in fact ZERO instructions. I thought as a backup plan...YouTube. Cause there's typically a YouTube video for everything. Nope. Not this time. The one video you want find on YouTube is how to assemble this heater and it's not there. So I grabbed the nuts and bolts set that came in packaging and stared at everything for a moment like it was a 50000 piece jigsaw puzzle, cause at this point that's exactly what it was. At least to me. 😉So after about 2.5 hours, literally, not over exaggerating I had one heater assembled and working. I'll end this part by saying while I don't consider myself an everyday handyman, I do consider myself pretty capable. Especially when well informed instructions are provided. I also build, commission and startup large industrial facilities around the world. So surely a simple heater wouldn't take that long with need for a mechanical engineering doctorate degree. 🤣 Last slightly negative is the shrink wrap that is on the heat shield pieces is a pain to get off and a big time consumer as well. Not difficult, just time consuming. Now for the positive! So after figuring out the puzzle of a heater I'd purchased from Amazon, I got it all together and fired up. It fired up on the first time with ease and most certainly was kicking out at least the advertised 46,000 BTU of heat. I don't have any more at this time to add since I just got 1 of 2 heaters assembled and only used the 1 for about 15 minutes since it was almost midnight after assembling the 1 heater.I would recommend this product. With that recommendation I'd add patience and probably beer as a requirement. Beer will limit your frustration from having no assembly information and after a few beers patience won't matter as much. I'll follow-up with a review on functionality and longevity of the heaters after a little more usage.Good luck and may odds be ever in your favor! 😉

Great patio/deck heater at a reasonable price
This patio/deck heater is a great addition for spreading some warmth on our deck. I wanted something to take the edge off using the grill in the chilly months, and this does the job. This is much like the unit available from Costco, but was less expensive when purchased from Amazon during a sale. In addition to keeping me warm while manning the grill, It also melts light snow & ice and even dried off the deck boards, afterwards (I certainly don't recommend leaving it on to melt deep snow, though!). A few disappointing caveats: 1) Color is misleading: it's less a "bronze" color than simply dark (deep chocolate?) brown - if you're looking at a different color, you'll probably be satisfied; 2) None of the pictures indicate that it comes shipped with huge "instruction" labels stuck to the outside of the base, as well as the post - you'll need a decent fingernail and some free time to get these off, and some Goof-Off or Orange Oil to get rid of the label's glue residue. Because of those two caveats, I took off one star, but am still quite satisfied with the purchase.

LOVE this Heater!
Amazing Heater! Could suntan under it lol..... it is VERY tall (it's commercial height) so I did what another customer did and cut the top PIPE down by 9 inches so it could be used between two outside rockers. His review is on Amazon. The cutting of the PIPE was easy with a metal hacksaw and a cheap mitrebox, drilling the holes was harder (used a drill press). If anyone else does this make sure to make the new holes a little bit oblong like the original holes because it allows for adjustment. I am a 59 year old grandmother and I put it together by myself.

Works great, an efficient heater
We ordered two of these while they were available. They were fairly easy to assemble - a couple more f the pieces were under all the styrofoam, so make sure to empty the entire box.We ordered Havana bronze as I'm not a fan of how stainless steel looks when it gets wet or dirty. The Havana bronze looks awesome! I would say it is more of a satin black finish. We just used them and had two heaters in a 13x13-ft area on a day that was around 6-8° c. We had them running on low to medium low, and were extremely comfortable. (This included one person who is a self-declared 'always cold' person.)Very happy with the purchase.

Would recommend
Just recieved this today and put it together myself in an hour ( at most ) I did need my mom ( who is 75 ) to hold things/ pass me things but really it went together REALLY easily just followed the directions exactly. It is big so be prepared for the height...its perfect on my deck. It could throw a bit more heat HOWEVER its certainly toasty enough that I have enjoyed my deck all evening and I would NOT have without it! Cant speak to the durability of it, as I just got it but other than that, really pleased! Would buy again

Easy to Assemble
I have assembled many items over the years and some had confusing and frustrating instructions. The assembly of this tall propane heater was very easy. The instructions were straightforward and all the fasteners were nicely labeled and coordinated with the instructions. They even included a wrench! The packaging was good and there was no scratches or dents. After an unhurried assembly time of less than an hour, I bled the air out of heater in about 3 minutes of holding in the control knob, and the heater fired up right away on the “high flame” position that was opposite to my old heater. I recognized that the high heat position enabled the thermal couple to quickly heat up thereby allowing me to release the control knob after only a few seconds instead of a minute or more. Nice improvement!

Worked only a few times and had to be thrown out!
Setup was fairly easy, heat was nice and strong and was able to use it a few times but then the cheap dial control stopped working. It would turn into ignite but then completely jams, I'm very mechanically inclined and could not repair it or get it to turn properly again. Contacted Amazon as the product had only been in my possession for a month and guess what, they wouldn't do anything! Suggestion number 1: find a technician to fix it and let us know how much it cost. Sorry but you want me to search for a "patio heater technician" lol, no thanks. He offered nothing else and kept reverting to it's past the 30 day return window, what about a warranty on the item??? He finally says ok pack it up and send it back and I can issue a refund. I told him taking it down and re-packing in a box that I don't even have is several hours of labor and they should just send out a new one or just the part that needs to be replaced but no they won't. Now I'm stuck with a broken patio heater that has no warranty and no product backing.Suggestion: spend a bit more and buy from somewhere like home depot where the product is backed with a warranty not AmazonBasics.
