Some odd but hilarious cartoons
The cover of the book will give you an idea of the kind of humor you will find. Off-beat and just plain odd these cartoons run the gamut. Reminiscent of the old Gary Larson "Far Side" comics these take a skewed look at everyday life and even toss in some stuff from left field. I have rarely enjoyed as many good laughs in one book as I did in this one. Get it and settle down for a chuckle.

LOVE Scott Kilburn's humor
LOVE Scott Kilburn's humor!!! Awesome little book to keep on your nightstand as all you have to do is read two or three pages and the day's pressures disappear. Laughed so hard that I had to order the rest of the series. Keep them coming!

A New Strip for Far Side Fans
I understand if fellow Texan Scott Hilburn doesn't want his syndicated comic strip, "The Argyle Sweater", constantly compared to the legendary Gary Larson strip, "The Far Side", but it's unavoidable and best taken as a compliment. As a published but not yet syndicated cartoonist myself, it is a bit awkward reviewing a collection of syndicated comics, but I'm going to call 'em as I see 'em. Anyway, for the most part I have praise to show. The Argyle Sweater is a funny strip. No doubt, sometimes it is only slightly funny, sometimes it is very funny (an image of a chef decorating a cake by squeezing frosting out of the Pillsbury Doughboy comes to mind), and I did encounter at least one headscratcher, but the fact about comic strips is that they have to match an individual's sense of humor. Some strips will never be to your (or my) liking, some strips will almost always be a winner for the reader (I'm a Garfield man myself), some will be hit or miss or just so-so for you. For me, "The Argyle Sweater" runs between hits and so-so, which makes it an enjoyable enough read for a strip I'm rather new to. There's some repetition, yes, but I can't imagine that not happening in a daily, single panel strip. I don't mind seeing characters revisited. I loved the three little pigs gags here, but there are a lot of puns, and I admit that I wasn't too into many of those. Overall, I think the best gags in the Argyle Sweater and single panel strips in general are the ones that require the least amount of text. The cartoon on the cover makes that point for me, though many of the strips inside do include quite a bit of text. The art is good and consistent, and though it's not exactly the same, it's one of several aspects that will remind readers of the Far Side strip. The humor is often similar too, though not quite on that level yet. It will be interesting to see how it continues to develop. For now though, "The Argyle Sweater" is a worthwhile strip and this is a fine, full color, 128 page collection of it. Recommended most for folks who enjoyed The Far Side and are looking for something new.

Far Side on steroids
I have forgotten Gary Larsen. While I lived day after day to see a Far Side calendar, I am so happy I found Argyle Sweater. It has helped me survive my daily dose of Far Side. The stories have never failed to give me a smile on a daily basis.

great artwork
References to culture of times past, which younger people might not get.

You Won't Believe This Book!
This is my favorite comic strip even considering how many funny ones there are. I wondered if the strips would be turned into a book, now I know there are several books but I have only seen this one. Literally anything can happen here.

Scott Hilburn has one of the most creative minds I have seen,so creative & unique to think of those captions! You very seldom see that kind of outside the box creativity, last time I saw it was Calvin & Hobbes
