Great crimps on large wires!
I was considering an expensive hydraulic crimper, but got this inexpensive alternative instead. It produces beautiful crimps on 8AWG and larger wire. I mounted it on a small piece of wood, and C-clamp it to a bench or other place I need a secure mount. It can be used free-standing as well. I recommend a ~3lb sledge to make easy work of large crimps. Wear ear protection - it's very loud metal-on-metal!

For a better grip, you may want to try this great little Gizmo. When crimped, it's there to stay.

Good tool
I built several 3/0, 2/0 and 4 awg cables with this tool. It worked very well.

OK for the good first -This thing just works. Mount it to your bench, use a 3lbs hand sledge to imprint the crimp, heat shrink over the back of the terminal and DONE - wire up your audio system.The bad -I spend money doing more projects.My friends now know I can do up to 4/0 wiring on their systems.Their friends now know I can do up to 4/0 on their systems.It wont fetch me a glass of wine.
