Better out there
Nice and small but sub woofer went out first day

Sorry about the sub....
The foxl v2 is all it's rumored to be... amazingly good sound from a minuscule package. Bluetooth is, well bluetooth, it works okayif you stay within about 10' of the source & aren't particularly concerned about audio quality. As for the foxLo, sorry to sayit doesn't live up to my expectations. While It does supplement that extra octave on the bottom end of the foxl's response appreciably when adjusted properly, actually executing this "adjustment" is another matter entirely (it even comes w a cheezy warning sticker advising one to "adjust carefully"). Within about a 1/4" of fader movement the volume goes from off to (if one is extremely careful) a relatively balanced level to complete meltdown (here the components emit something that sounds like a wet buffalo fart & threaten to leap out of their enclosure). I can only guess that this "feature" was an afterthought as it's hard to believe that it was the doings of the same design team that developed the foxl. And while i'm at it, what's with the archaic AC power lump guys? My advice, bag the sub & just stick with the foxl... if you are looking for bigger sound there's plenty of otherproducts out there of similar size that work quite well & for considerably less $$.

Sound quality is not expected good.
The box body is also good, the sound quality is very clear. But foxLo's bass is far less than expected, and it's always a "Po Po" sound, the distortion is very serious, even though no matter how I adjust the volume of foxLo to no avail, I suspect that my foxLo is not itself a failure.

No worries mate!
I had some concern about ordering this package. I had intended to order from Crutchfield, but they didn't offer the foxLo. I called to inquire why (no distribution agreement?; quality issue?), but the guy I chatted with had no clue. Still, the versatility of the product was very appealing. I mean, the portability of the foxL v2 is obvious, and it has received excellent reviews from credible sources for sound and construction quality. The most common complaint is that the base could be better. This was often accompanied with the "comes with the territory" caveat. OK, I get it, small speakers are limited in what they can deliver below 100Hz, so the foxL Duet seemed a perfect solution. Even though the small sub requires it be plugged in, it provides the spot-on answer to the small speaker syndrome. When at the desk at home, I get wonderful sound that is rich, detailed, and satisfying. Traveling, if luggage space is tight, I can leave the woofer and still enjoy sound at orders of magnitude above the laptop/tablet.Right now I'm listening to Shawn Colvin's "Sunny came home" at a low volume. I can feel the base through the keyboard. I'm a happy camper. As a final note, during my online research I saw a video of some guy doing a side-by-side comparison of the foxL v2 and the Bose Mini. Listening, it seemed that the Bose sound was "full", while the v2 sounded tinny by comparison. Playing with the v2, listening to tunes on iTunes yesterday, I pulled up the equalizer, and voila!, I can create any sound profile I want . Not saying the comparo was bogus, just that this wonderful little speaker can provide whatever sound you want. As Doc Holliday speaking for the foxL would say, "I'm your huckelberry!"

Worked great for a couple years!
I bought this at a store, not amazonThe speakers worked great for a couple years. I placed the speaker and sub above my kitchen cabinets and connected via Bluetooth to my echo dot. Like I said, worked fine for a couple years. Recently it started stuttering while playing. Even while plugged in thru headphone cable, it would stutter. I tried power cycling the echo, and that worked for a couple days before it came back. Then it started beeping. Finally figured out that it wasn’t charging, despite being plugged in 24/7. It was the plugged in via usb. I pulled out the AC plug that came with it to charge it and turned it off for a couple days to ensure a full charge. Upon disconnecting power, it continued beepin indicating not charged.

Tiny high end system. The ultimate bedroom / travel speaker!
Finally a portable system with a full range flat response! Natural sounding. What a seasoned audiophile is looking for. Not a party speaker. A system worthy of critical listening at normal volume levels wih the door closed. Careful placement and a quality source will be rewarded with a quality of sound that most people are never exposed to.A few years ago I bought the first soundmatters foxl. A candy bar sized bluetooth speaker with an amazingly flat response. A nice toy. It has a sub out which I connected to a huge subwoofer and people thought it was a big stereo. The company since has come out with a version 2, and a tiny woofer:Got the version 2 (the first one with less battery life but the same sound and aptx bluetooth) and the sub. Connected the 2 foxl's in a dual mono configuration using the output of the sub and a $12 adapter from the manufacturer's web site. Connected the nuforce usb dac to the sub input. A three piece speaker system that weighs about 2.5lbs total and is smaller than a netbook. You would not believe the sound! Flat response into the 30's. No boxiness at all! Per pound/inch these defy physics. The big portable systems are pathetic compared to this, and these are so much smaller, lighter and half the price. I've never heard a (truly) portable system that sounds at all like this. Clean, airy, spacious, room filling. A tiny high end system. The ultimate bedroom or travel speaker.
