OGX Purifying + Charcoal Detox Shampoo for Buildup Removal and Light Nourishment, No Sulfates, 13 fl oz

I have NEVER written a review this fast, but this product absolutely deserves it! On election night in November, sis was a little stressed and I decided to perm my hair after 10 years of being natural (Don't judge me! When Black women are 'going through', we typically decide to make changes to our hair.) Anywho, ever since then my hair has been kinda 'heavy', for lack of a better word. It just has seemed weighed down. In the last month or so, I've started to notice this weird, oily buildup after I wash my hair. I'm the mother of a young child and just wrote it off as I didn't wash thoroughly and need to do better next time. Well, I washed my hair this past Monday and noticed the buildup was even thicker, like Goop. I could literally squeeze sections of my hair down to the tips and have this thick, gummy residue on my fingers. Enough was enough, so I decided to look up some type of clarifying shampoo on my cyber BFF (Amazon) and this was the first item to pop up on my search. I looked at the reviews and decided to give this shampoo a shot - best decision I'd made all week! My hair actually bounces now, is lighter, and is completely clear of whatever that buildup was. I'm thoroughly impressed. If you're having similar issues, try this. It works, sis (or sir). 🤷🏾‍♀️

I was in the hospital for a few days for surgery and unable to really wash my hair much. When I was finally discharged home, I used this shampoo and the matching conditioner and WOW! My hair felt soooo much better! It was light and silky and felt like 20 pounds of oil and buildup had been lifted. Even the next day (I’m only allowed to take a very quick shower every few days to keep the stitches dry), my hair felt light and clean as if I had washed it fresh that day too. The scent isn’t great but isn’t terrible. Just not my preference. And the price is a bit high, but for what it does, I’ll take it! I’m gonna keep this stuff in stock to alternate with my usual shampoo/conditioner at least once a month. I don’t use many products on my hair so I don’t have to “super wash” my hair often. But I’m definitely letting my sisters know - they use a ton of products daily.

I like the shampoo. I think it does work to clarify, but the smell is really pungent. It mainly smells like a men's shampoo ( think irish soap), but there's this underlying awful quality. Even when I shampoo with this product, shampoo again with my dandruff shampoo, use conditioner, and use a leave in conditioner I can still smell this shampoo. So, if you are sensitive to smell this product will probably not work. Otherwise, I think the shampoo does remove buildup well and leaves my hair super clean

I know scent is not a reason to use a hair product, but both the OGX Charcoal Shampoo and Conditioner smell fantastic. I only tend to use the shampoo once, maybe twice per week. I do have colored hair, so I’m not sure if this rinses out color, but my scalp gets a little bit itchy and I find this keeps my scalp calm and clean. I cannot find this product anywhere else, so I have to order from Amazon. It’s a little pricey, but since I use it about once a week and I have short hair, a bottle does last me a long time.

When I first used this shampoo, I was like ehhh, however, the more I use it, I actually like it. I’m a hairstylist and I’ve tried almost every professional brand out there. The thing with most expensive shampoos, it leaves a residue that cling to your hair leaving it sticky and waxy in due time. You must clarify and use an anti residue shampoo once a week To loosen all the residue which will revive the shine back to your hair. Using a clarifying or anti residue shampoo mostly strips it clean so you need a good conditioner. I find this brand to be a bit gentle on my hair and doesn’t leave it squeaky, yet it gave me the shine and free from the residue. I personally pair it with Healthy sexy hair moisture conditioner which deposit moisture right away, leaving it tangle free and silky. I love it! Plus it smells awesome!

Not a dry shampoo/conditioner (confused ab the reviews on that part) but hands down, the best I have EVER used for de gunking!! I wash my hair only a few times a week (plz don't judge lol, it gets really dry on the actual hair but my scalp wants to over produce oil to compensate, fun right 🙄😭)....well I was using Herbal Essence charcoal shamp/cond but it seemed to be recently discontinued in stores now for some reason? I decided to go onto Amazon to look for it and it was ridiculously priced, so instead I opted for these and this brand of shamp/cond. I use a LOT of hair spray too and wear my hair up all the time in messy buns and I can honestly you, I have NEVER felt my hair so damn stripped and cleaned omg. Not even Herb Ess did that for my hair and it was supposed be charcoal based. I am staying on this for sure!!

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this shampoo can be massaged into the hair and worked into a cleansing lather. Sometimes shampoo leaves me hanging. Last night I used this OGX product in my hair, that the strands might smell better the next day. It worked: my hair smells nice right now! It did not leave me hanging. When I next go on a date I think I will use this shampoo. Not during the date, but in advance, so my date will smell the good hair. I will go on many dates with handsomes because of OGX.

This is what I have been looking for! I have relaxed hair and I use only two light products to style my hair. I have not felt my hair this silky and soft for a really long time. If only I had of known what I know now! I did a single wash with OGX followed by a single wash of my favorite shampoo. I have tried this same process with other shampoos like this but never have I seen these results! My hair styled so well and is soft and silky-I hardly recognize it! I am sensitive to smells and I have sensitive skin. This shampoo does not have a strong smell, base notes are coconut and fruity . My scalp does not itch and actually feels clean, finally! I know depending on the hair texture and what products are used can vary the results but this shampoo is worth trying! I so wish there was a coconut charcoal detox body wash!

Lo uso principalmente en las raíces, siento que desintoxica mi cuero cabelludo y deja súper limpio el pelo. No me encanta el aroma pero funciona súper bien.

This is a great shampoo to use once a week to remove any product build up. Smells great and does its job well

Great product.....very useful for people in field job....hair cleansing and does a good job in cleaning.
