Maybe the metal receiver is spinning or the lock snap ring is missing. **Q: Does this device work with the mgrs or military grid reference system?** A: If I could send a pic. Unit shows using MGRS grid system as an option **Q: does this unit display land elevation?** A: Only with optional mapping it will show contour elevations. With my sportrak maps I always load an optional topo of the buyers area... If you want a larger area than the map has room for go with the sportrak pro.... **Q: Can i buy a new battery pack for this gps?** A: They only have a battery tray for two AA batteries that screws into the unit. If anyone has one it will be expensive.
