Clarks Men's Desert Mali Boot

My purchase was motivated by a previously owned pair of Clarks Desert Boots with which I was very happy. Right out of the box, the color is very different to that of the picture. Once I laced up the boots and took a few steps, the leather began losing its color wherever there was even the slightest bend. After wearing them for 5 days, they look like a 2 year pair of beater boots. I'm not sure if the dramatic change in color is a feature, rather then a defect, but it does not look good. I would not buy another pair in this specific color and would not recommend that you do either.

Having owned a pair of Clarks desert boots before, I was looking for a regular boot to wear at the office. Thankfully these are high enough to where they don't ride up on pants or jeans. The one thing I noticed, which other reviewers mention is Clarks generally run a full to half size larger than most shoes. I wear an 8.5 M/D in all shoes except Clarks where I need to wear an 8. One thing of note, these boots are not insulated. They're essentially just the regular boot sized version of the desert boots except they aren't chukkas. Also they are not waterproof. They can withstand some light rain, but if you're in a wetter climate, you might want to waterproof them. The soles do have decent traction, but again these boots are more about style than practicality. Overall a great pair of boots with a very little break in period.

I normally wear 10.5 EE but have found Clarks run a bit wide and ordered the standard 10.5 D. Fit was perfect. Leather is very high quality thick and heavily waxed or oiled. I found that initial wearing did cause the creased sections to lighten a bit but applying some Cadillac Boot & Shoe Care restored and enriched the deep color. There is no lining whatsoever inside the boot. I like that. The break in period was very short. I just put on a thick pair of socks and laced the boots up tight, not using the cut slot in the tongue. I had to massage the heel back and forth to get it not to be hard against the back of my heels. No problem now. There is a heel pad of sorts but no other insert. At first I thought the boot was very hard and flat but that was because I am used to padded inserts in all my other boots and shoes. The crepe sole absorbs a lot of shock so that is good. I paid $139 for these a week ago and they are now on sale for about $96. Rats! (Back up to $160 now! Feel somewhat better.) A very good deal at the lowest price. These are not work boots. For casual use they are great.

Love these boots. The only 4 star rating is because of how tight Clark boots are in the Vamp. That area that goes across your feet right before the toe box. Think right before the toes on your feet start to grow. The flexing area. Dang it's tight. I bought a size 9 because for me and my friends they run a full size large. BUT I did have to go to my local cobbler and have the boots stretched in the front making them WIDER in the vamp area. Length was perfect. I just couldn't walk with how tight they are in the flexing area out the box.PS these are buttery soft. Comfort is greeeeeaaaaat. Don't buy these and drive up that Amazon cost.

order your true size , i ordered a half size smaller and they were tight , ok im not looking at reviews on sizing anymore , some folks say half size smaller and some folks say half size larger , i think its all bout folks have different sizes of feet , different shapes , andf different needs , some wear thick socks , somewear thin socks, some wear orthordics, so you can,t go on other folks think how it should fit , because all feet are different , for the love of Mike "order your true size " not what someone who has large fat feet ,because maybe your are not large and fat ....nice boot tho had to send back for larger size ..thanks

I LOVE these boots. They show a lot of wear right off the bat, but I get compliments on them constantly and it just changes the look to be more casual. Don't buy these if you're looking for them to stay as pristine as the picture.They fit true to size and after just a week or so they became super comfortable. I bought insoles and generally wear thicker socks, but they did great walking 72 miles around Europe. I wear these boots almost every day.

I usually wear a 9.5 or 10 so I ordered the size 9. A size 8.5 would have fit too, but I like a loose fit in this sort of boot.I bought the Taupe with the red sole. Like the look.Wore them on on a 5 mile hike and they quickly started giving me blisters on my heels. I had moleskin in my medkit thankfully but by the end of the hike these boots ate through the moleskin too! I've never had a shoe or boot that was so bad for blisters. I returned them.The rubber sole on these gave the right amount of traction and cushioning, but could have been stiffer. It's easy to fold these boots in half, so your tarsels get pinched when your in a 'crouching on your toes' position.

I purchased the Mali boot having never owned a Clarks product before. After reading the reviews and comments regarding the sizing, they tend to run large, , I decided to go with the Mali boot in bronze, size 10. I normally wear between a 10 and 10 1/2.The fit of the boots is exactly, if not better than I expected. I am always a little leery with buying shoes or boots online when I haven't previously owned a pair. I slipped these on and they felt like they were already broken in - read extremely comfortable. The boots look great with a dressed down outfit, or a casual day in the office.I will definitely purchase another pair in the future.

these are some good boots I love the way I step in them. they make me feel like a panther, plus I've seen a few heads turn.
