Bought to replace a 15 year old filter that was leaking. Takes a few minutes to install. Make sure the gasket is in place or it will leak. The clear tank makes it easier to see if the filter needs to be replaced earlier

I've used 3 variations of Omni Whole house filters over the last 30 years. This is like the 1st filter I used (90s version) with threads on the outside of the base, which I prefer. Have been happy through the years and this package is a good value. Everything you need for install between the male 3/4" threaded connectors that you'll purchase separately. The initial price shows a bit higher, but the bracket and filter cartridge aren't included in many of the search returned products.

since i do not believe most of the negative reviews are fair for this particular product, i thought it best to give my opinion. the u25 filter was already in place when i bought my home three years ago, and i've never had an issue with the filter until now. like many others have mentioned my filter also formed a (even less than) hair-line crack that began spraying a very fine mist of water. also i must add that when i bought my house, there was another u25 filter in a box in the utility room that i THOUGHT was an extra, however finally looking closely at this one, i noticed that IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT, the previous owners had tried to epoxy a crack, so obviously (and as many others have noted) there was indeed a design flaw in these u25 filters. so now you must be asking why on earth did i give this 4 stars??? because the company changed the design and quality of this filter. yes, it has the same name and it does look VERY similar, however having both of them in your hands i could see and feel that the newer one was much better. i was concerned that the width may not be the same and would not fit in where the previous owners cut out the copper piping, but it fit PERFECTLY and i have NEVER done anything with plumbing in my life and i had the old one taken out and the new one in place within 15 minutes. changing the filter would take less than 5 minutes. no offense to the raters that keep saying the filter leaks (when not cracked of course). sometimes the o-ring is finicky or not lubricated enough and sometimes the bottom container is not screwed on tight enough (gotta use the supplied "wrench") but do not over-tighten. i keep checking the filter several times a day and so far so good. i will of course update this review if anything changes.

Years ago, my water softener went out. I replaced it with three of these to not restrict the water flow. I think it is max 5gal/min. Now, I don't have to deal with salt or bleach. I just replace a filter cartridge periodically. I have well water and this filters it great.

Keep your system pressure under control, around 60 psi max, with a water pressure regulator and good sized hot water heater expansion tank. And the filter casing will last 10+ years. The small valve in the top of this filter casing does not deal well in higher pressure systems, nor does the other electronically controlled valves in you ice maker, dishwasher or clothes washer.

I install this as a pre-filter for an under-the-sink filter for my kitchen. I bought it when it has a special pricing promotion and seems like a very good value. This needs a lot more torque than the regular 3/8" kitchen faucet connections. I needed to wrap the Teflon tape 6 times on the brass connection (not included) and really screwed it on to stop the leaks (3 or 4 times of Teflon tape were not enough). I then placed both of my filters in a deep pan with an automatic leak sensor (also purchased on Amazon) to alert me of any water leaks. Since this is in the kitchen (where I spend a lot of time in every day anyway), I also check on it every so often to make sure there is no leak. So far so good.

Update: I lowered my review due to changing the filter is extremely difficult. The supplied wrench does not provide the leverage to untighten the filter after sitting for a period of time. I found it very frustrating to attempt to loosen it. Once I was able to get it off and replace the filter I was unable to get it to seal again with out leaking... I found it relative easy to install, I did have to go to home depot to get some hardware as it only comes with hardware for 1/2 inch piping and my piping is 3/4 inch. The clear plastic where it meets with the blue plastic will leak if it is to tight or not tight enough, it really annoying as you have to fiddle with it to get it just right. It does clean the water nicely there was no more chlorine or mineral taste. Also I noticed that the toilets and shower don't have to be cleaned as much. The water pressure was the same after installation..

La válvula de purga estaba desatornillada y perdía. Tuve que desconectar ( cortar tubo de agua al filtro) y desarmarlo para enroscar. Definitivamente una falla de producción no recomiendo este producto.

The unit arrived early. It was easy to install with the installation instructions. Being able to see the condition of the filter through the see through case is very helpful.
