Really great product!
This product is very well made and is a snap to install. Had it all stapled in place in about 10 minutes. And the difference it makes is shocking! The door to our attic stairs never closed all the way... there was one edge that had about a 1/4-inch gap which would let heat into the house in the summer and would let heat escape up into the attic in the winter. This little baby solves that problem once and for all. We installed it on a sweltering 96-degree July afternoon, and the minute it was in place, you could literally feel how much cooler it was standing directly underneath the attic door. Well worth the money. I wish I would have bought it years ago!

Good item, but important to install correctly.
I noticed a very significant improvement after installing this, I'm in Houston and it's a heatwave, so I needed something for both my house and my mother's house. (I bought 2 of these at once) I'm not sure about it's durability (It's plastic after all), but it seems OK. The zipper....I'm not sure about. But if you don't go up in the attic constantly it's probably OK. It is very important to properly install it. I used double sided duct tape and staples. Make sure you remove any staples/nails that are sticking out (or pound them flush with a hammer). Wipe it down to get rid of any dust that would prevent your tape from sticking. Unfold it, have it ready ABOVE the opening. Put the tape all the way around, make sure to press it onto the sides and remove the plastic covering the outer part of the tape.(I had trouble removing the plastic on my tape because of the heat so I had to put it in the refrigerator to cool it off a bit first). Carefully line up the bottom of the cover with the bottom of the tape and press it tight. Do that all the way around. In the CLOTH part (the black edge around the bottom), staple to the sides. (I would avoid stapling directly into the plastic) So with the double sided tape I didn't have to use extra duct tape around the bottom to seal it. Hope this helps someone (the instructions they include are not very precise).

Easy to install and fits over my extra wide attic stairs
I replaced the original attic pull-down stairs a few years ago because I wanted a wider step for stability. The wider step makes the stairs extend higher in the attic when folded-up than the original stairs. That means that the attic stair insulation cover must be high enough to "clear" the folded stairs. This stair cover meets that criteria. The side walls are 11 inches high, but the installation requires that the sidewalls be stapled to the INSIDE of the attic opening frame...BELOW the attic floor elevation...so some of that 11 inches in height is lost by the installation method. That said, it is still high enough to clear the folded-up stairs. Installation was easy with a manual staple gun. The stair cover fit exactly within the dimensions of the attic opening. This cover is a significant improvement over my previous attic stairs cover because this cover has a higher R rating and this cover stays in place when the extra wide stairs are folded-up. Update 14Dec25: This is an awesome product that has held up well - shows no signs of wear and tear - both zippers are working fine...and it continues to provide needed insulation. This was a good purchase in 2020 and I am reminded of that with every trip to the attic.

Buy It!
What a big difference. While researching these covers I came across a home engineering article that explained how an uninsulated attic stairway actually reduced the total insulation effectiveness in an attic space by approximately 20 percent. This is an awful lot for only a few square feet area. I pre measured the rough opening of my stairs first, to make sure that it would fit properly. The cover is stapled onto the rough opening, not the ladder jambs itself. It was a near perfect fit. Used my 2' level and pre-drew lines all the way around to ensure a neat level fit. Only had to fold over and lap 2 corners, and only slightly. Total time to finish the job, including scraping away some old foam and cutting back a couple of shims... About 30 minutes taking my time. My attic space has ridge venting, gable vents and full length drip-edge venting. Plenty of air circulation up there! When I was done, no drafts. No cold air. I was starting to break a sweat. Well constructed and stitched. Worth every penny.

Works great!
Really helps with the heat in the summer - keeps it a lot cooler where the attic opening is in the hallway. I use to feel the heat when walking through the hallway during the summer, now it keeps it cool like the other areas in our home.

I had my doubts, but this thing is awesome
My A/C guy told me that the reason my unit for one side of the house was running more than the unit on the other side was that the controller was in the hall below the attic access. The offered to install one of these tents for a significant chunk of change. So, as I said, I had my doubts about this but I went ahead and ordered this. It was delivered on time (I think about a week for delivery) , it was well packaged, super easy to install. I also thought it was going to make getting into the attic a pain but it's simple to open and close and it also keeps the attic door a lot cleaner so I don't need to vacuum insulation off the floor every time I access the attic, that was kind of a bonus they didn't advertise. and it works. The draft in the hall from the warm air moving up through the door way is gone. I have checked the temperature around the door and it is the same as the rest of the hall, and my heat pump isn't running nearly as much because of the cold draft going by that controller.

Easy to install and will save me money
I bought this product because an energy consultant who looked at my house said the absolute first thing I should do was insulate the pull-down attic door. He said the door acts like a chimney and hot or cold air escapes easily. I don't have any idea how much energy I'll save but the price was reasonable and he was so insistent I seal the attic I thought I'd give it a try. I was a little worried that the product would not fit my attic but it was perfect. The hardest part was taking the back of two-sided duct tape until I looked on Youtube and discovered you need to tear it with your hands which will expose the backing. Once I did that, it was easy to put around the attic opening. This is useful since it holds the insulation in place while you staple the insulation. Once I got the backing off the two-sided tape, the job took only about 20 minutes. Seems to work fine getting in and out of the attic. Hopefully I'll notice a difference in my energy bills, probably mostly in the winter when heat rises.

Just Fantastic
Wasn't sure this would actually work, to be honest. It was worth a shot. Our attic is in our hallway, and during the summer we kept getting stale air coming down from our attic. Hot, smelly, stale air. I decided to give this a try. Super easy to install (Used an electric staple gun) and it completely stopped the air transfer. I did add a luggage zipper puller to the zippers to make them easier to find and use. Opening and closing is super easy. I just went up in to the attic for our Christmas stuff and was amazed at the difference it makes. Highly recommend

Easy install - great product
Easy to install. Just need a staple gun. May not fit perfectly but once installed works well as it is somewhat flexible. Zipper appears to be good quality. A lot easier than building a box or a fixed structure in attic.

Attic stairwell cover.
Well made. Material a little thin but we solved this by putting an old duvet between the cover and steps. No draft or heat loss whatsoever.
