Q: I am confused. the power source says it is gas powered? so strange.

Definitely not gas powered. It's standard 120V.

Q: I just need a small air compressor for blowing our filters and parts on lab instruments. Will this one do what I need?

Yes, but only for short duty cycles. The tank is small and blowing air uses a lot of air. So don't expect to be able to continuously blow for more than 30 seconds or so before the compressor needing to recycle.

Q: Will this work to operate a pneumatic Porter Cable nail-brad gun?

Quick answer is "yes" as long the air pressure the gun need is less than 150 psi. However, depends on the size of the nail-brad gauge and requirement of pressure of the gun, you may need a larger & stronger compressor. My 20 gauge nail gun is not porter cable one but the compressor works just fine with it. Actually, brand of the nail gun & compressor doesn't matter at all. All you need to concern is a required air pressure.

Q: can you say what the 8 piece accessory kit comprises of?

Tools are what the other guy said. You really need to purchase a quick disconnect and couplings kit. I ordered the "Primefit IK1015S-5 1/4-Inch Steel Quick Coupler Set, 5-Pieces" for $5.95 at the same time along with an inexpensive blower and a better gauge-enabled tire fill. It does come with a very basic tire fill.
