As the days are colder my dog loves laying down on the sofa with me on my electric blanket. I was however worried that he’d be cold at night in his bed. I got this heating pad thinking that my fur baby would be delighted with it, but sadly his initial response was not great. I’m not sure if was because it wasn’t soft and sounds a bit scratchy under foot so he has stayed away from it up until today over 2 weeks later! I had to put it at the end of the sofa and cover him with my blanket so he felt safe and guess what!! He hasn’t moved off it all night so that’s a result. The pad is great and has a really thick ( stainless steel coating) chew proof and longish cord if your worried about your animal having a go at it. My dog is a small Yorkie so size wise it’s perfect. I will be putting it in his donut tonight and am sure he won’t try and get on my bed tonight. I had my feet on it and it’s more than warm enough, but does not have a temperature control which I would have liked so it’s a constant set 96-110F and has a built in thermostat to prevent overheating and fire. Got this for the cats - our little black and white one has issues with her hips which are made worse by the cold weather and the others are getting older and like to cwtch in the warm. Size - big enough for 2 kitties to snooze on together or 1 kitty to sprawl out on. Quality - good quality - impressed with the cable which is very thick and well made, pad cover is sturdy but soft and comfy to lay directly on Heat - I had the pad on against my back for well over an hour to test out the heat and found it got warm but not overly hot, once it reached a specific temperature the heat automatically switched off, before turning back on again when it had cooled. Handy feature as I was concerned it might over heat. Cats are all super happy with this mat as am I

Got this as a Christmas present for my cat, it's getting cold and he started clinging to me for cuddles which is lovely but not very practical and as cute as he is it was becoming a little bit annoying! Ordered this couple of days before Christmas and it arrived next day. Unboxed it and put it on his stool, I could feel the pad warming up and was so excited that it a) Worked b) Worked so easily and quickly c) Looks easy to clean. Sadly my cat didn't understand what it was so ignored it. Thought I'd made a mistake buying it but then tried putting treats on the pad to entice him to at least sit on it. Thankfully the treats worked and now I've lost my cat and have to remind him I'm here for cuddles if he wants them! Pros: It works really well my cat is so content and cosy. I've got my personal space back and can visit the bathroom or answer the door without hostage style negotiations. Cons: Kind of missing all of the cuddles.

My 16 year old cat took to it immediately which in itself was a result. However he got too hot so I then put a towel over it and that seemed to diffuse the heat enough. It didn’t feel to hot but I’m not a cat. It should be said I have a very thick coated cat so this may not be an issue for a standard cat! The instructions say not to cover it but I cannot see how that would cause any risk, after all if the cat can lie on it the. Why not a towel or blanket. Overall I’m really please with it I only know led a star off because the cat got off because he got hot. I would still recommend this highly for elderly cats.

My Great Dane is quite thin coated I'd noticed when she sits in her chair she shivers so I decided to look into getting her a heated pad. This one seemed to fit the bill and just the right size for the Dane chair. I ordered it and it arrived the very next day. We unpacked it and quite excitedly popped it on her chair. I was impressed with the protected cable. It has a lovely thick cover on it. The instructions stated to pop a blanket on top so I put her favourite blanket on top and tucked the cable down the side of the chair. It said wait 20 mins for it to heat up but it was warming up nice at 20 minutes and my Dane Narnia climbed onto her chair. She noticed it was warm and at first got back up sniffing it all then hopped back on. Five minutes later she was relaxed and warm. No sign of her normal shiver. We can highly recommend this pad. I am really impressed with the quality and the speed of delivery. Any dog or cat would love this..

We bought this heated pad for Basil, our 16 year old cat. He's developing mobility problems and is clearly suffering aches and pains, particularly in the morning. On the first morning after using the mat overnight he was much more mobile, walking around straight away upon waking-up. He also seems in a much better mood! As other reviewers have said, this product appears very well made and safe. We have it on a separate timer but it would be fantastic if it was pressure sensitive and then it would know when Basil was in his bed and turn itself on. Just and idea for the product developers!

Very happy with the heating pad. Our dog is now 1 year old and gets cold during the night. This is perfect as it doesn't get too hot, it heats up to a comfortable level relatively quickly, just enough to keep my little girl comfortable Seems well made, sturdy and nice-looking the safety cord seems very sturdy and well made. It is a decent size 45cm x 40cm and is just about the right size for french bulldog it also has a removable washable flannel cloth, so it is easier to keep clean. This is a great product for pets at a great price! Would highly recommend it!

Product lasted 9 months. That's operating every day even in summer. Other than checking fuse no way to repair for longer life. Think it should be of such quality as to last at least a year. Cat gave it thumbs up when working, but looks fed up now!

My senior cat is obsessed with this. She naps on it all the time. I keep it on the couch for her. It doesn't leave a hot spot on the couch, nor does it radiate heat past itself (which is good, makes me feel better that my couch isn't going to burst into flames). You have to actually sit on it to feel the warmth. I've had this for a year and a half and it's held up perfectly. Only note is that the fabric does catch claws, so I also have a really thin piece of fleece on top of it to stop her from snagging.

I bought one of these last fall, because we were having our cat sleep in the garage. To compensate for the cold, I put one of these pads under her bed. To our surprise, the garage became here favorite place to sleep overnight. Every morning, she jumps off the bed and comes inside, and you can feel her fur is nice and warm. Just since Christmas, my wife started complaining about the cat leaving fur all over our couch, so I ordered another heating mat to put under her inside bed, on a family room chair. That chair is now her favorite place to sleep inside, and the couch is reserved for my wife. The pad works as advertised, and the thermostat keeps it at a great temperature for the cat. She doesn't sleep directly on it, so there is a layer of fleece in between. This arrangement works fine. Although there is a removable cover, we haven't had to clean it yet. The cord is well protected, which i appreciate. This mat has been a good value.

I have extras in case one gets damaged. My outside feral cat and outside kitty that wont come in have insulated dog houses. These mats come on if they lay on them and turn off if they get up. It got down very cold last year. All you could see was their nose sticking out. They were very cozy!

UPDATE: I've been using these pads for a few years now. My original review is still all true, except the longevity of these pads is pretty bad. I get around 1 year of use before they just go cold. Not a horrible lifespan, but you'd think they'd at least last a few years. Subtracting one star for bad longevity. ORIGINAL: Since I don’t like paying crazy high heating bills in the winter, I wanted to get my cats something to keep them warm that would be a lot cheaper than that. I looked at several heating pads, and decided on this one. Both of my cats absolutely love it! It doesn't get super warm (compared to what humans might like for themselves), but I put my hand on it to test it, and it's definitely warm enough for them to feel comfortable without getting dangerously/uncomfortably hot for them. Not having a on/off switch or temperature setting might be the only two cons to this, but I haven't missed those features at all, since I just leave it plugged in 24/7. Get this pad, it's great!

I have a 20 year old cat, and so I wanted to get a heating pad for her that might help her joints feel less stiff, but I was really worried about which one to get. I wanted to be sure it wouldn't get too hot for her, I was worried about fire risk, and I also wasn't sure she'd like anything that was too hard or crinkly. This turned out to be perfect for her. It doesn't get very warm, so it feels very safe to have it on my bed where she likes to sleep, and when I cover it with a thin blanket she seems to find it perfectly comfortable. I have two 'stations' set up next to each other on the bed, one with the heating pad and one without, and she picks and chooses which she wants throughout the day and night. She definitely has a preference for the heating pad during the day and whenever the temperature in the house is cooler, and although it might be coincidence, I do think she's a little less stiff since I got this. At the very least she enjoys the heating mat, which is what matters the most.
