I am very pleased with these. I shoes for a cruise and they were tight just above the toes. I put these in overnight. And no more tightness. My hiking boots have always been just a little bit tight. Used a on them, no more tightness. I have wide feet and they worked well for me. I am not sure how they will work for a smaller width. I definitely recommend.

these are wood (which is fine) with plastic inserts to put in various places to stretch your shoes where you need it. Once, inserted, you crank the handle to spread the end of the insert apart to do the stretching. There's an aluminum nut inside the shoes that is pulled backward to force the two halves apart in order to stretch your shoes. That nut was completely stripped on one of the stretchers. I'll bet it was stripped by a previous buyer, returned and then re-sold. The fact that the nuts were soft metal also probably means I would have stripped the other one eventually if I really put some tension on it. I returned them and got a refund with not issues.

Wanted to fix some high top boots, there are many vendors, this one seemed like a good balance of price versus features. Items arrived in good time, used them twice with no problem.On the third time, one of the two stretchers somehow went past the point where the screw part got stuck and it would no longer turn. I disassembled it, and discovered there is no stop preventing the unit from overturning. Now, that one doesn't work, and even after WD40 and a lot of tool work, I have been unable to make it work again.Why, then, 4 stars?First, it did work twice, and the other unit still works. Less convenient, as I use it on one shoe, then the other. However, when I reported the issue, the seller quickly refunded half of the cost at my request. Seemed only fair, but what was good is there was no argument, they make the effort to treat customers well.I don't think I would buy this particular item again, but if you see something this seller has available, I'd say given their service it's worth buying from them, they stand behind their products.

Wooden boot stretchers are so much better than the plastic ones I tried before!These came seemingly freshly made, smooth, with different sized "bumpits" you can insert in strategic places, that do more of a targeted / pressure point stretch. They can be used to stretch new shoes, and because the metal crank handle has a hinge you are able to also use these in your cowboy boots or knee high boots or, whatever boots unlike most stretchers that you can't get down into the toe of a boot.They were very easy to use, I slid them down into the boots, making sure they were "toeside" up, then started turning clockwise and felt the stretchers against the outside of the boot. I left the stretchers in for around 24-36 hours.. turn the crank counterclockwise, the sides shrink back together, slid the out of the boot and I was ready. I next wore them my boots were much more comfortable!These shoe stretchers saved me from having to buy new boots!I did have email contact with the owner and they were most helpful and kind!Overall A+ Good Experience. :-)

I stretched my boots once but now I cannot get the device to expand or unexpand. I am so mechanically challenged that I could not get the device to work so I gave the product one star but I did figure it out so I changed my initial one star review.

so these arrived today and I immediately discovered that they are engineered all wrong for their intended purpose. They DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT turn when in the upright position ( the metal crank at a 45 degree angle to the wood part.) which makes them very difficult to use in any stiff or very tall boots. I am going to keep them because I can use them on a couple pair of softer faux leather boots. But the very very tall thigh high boots I bought them to use in, I cant because there is not enough give in the boots to manuever the crank to open them up to stretch. They do work better than similar plastic ones that I had purchased, and there are 2 of them, unlike the really expensive ones (that probably turn in the right position)but you get what you pay for. Also the little button thingies are very very small. these would have been great if you could turn the metal part while it is in the complete verticle position

I needed to stretch out some new work boots that were a little tight. the boots were men's size 9 so I ordered the large for 9 1/2 to 10 1/2 size boots. Even with them all the way open they didn't stretch much at all if any.They are made really well and easy to use but I think they run a little small. With the quality of the workmanship am thinking of ordering a larger size and give those a try
