Attack on Titan, Part 2 (Limited Edition Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

Very low quality case
The DVDs/blu rays work perfectly but the case snapped in half almost immediately. Have had this same issue with the previous combo pack of season 1.

Good Intro for Anime-Skeptics
People unfamiliar with anime may be put off by its somewhat deserved stigma for sexualizing women, weak plots and/or gratuitous violence. While AoT certainly packs the latter, its violence serves to illustrate a deeper human truth: that our world is rarely black and white. How AoT manages to demonstrate this is notable in light of its seemingly nonsensical premise: that humans are trapped in a city with giant walls to defend against enormous humanoid cannibals. Soldiers can only defeat them through steam-powered grappling hooks that fling them near the monsters' necks; their sole weak spots to a blade. The cannibals are otherwise immune to guns through an immense regenerative capacity, and if they ever break through the walls, lots of people are getting eaten. Did you get all that? You have king kongs bumbling around, and batmans zooming by slicing the backs of their necks. Sounds like a bad acid trip to me.But this is where AoT manages to diverge from most anime and deliver something that we can all relate with: difficult decisions in light of loss. It does this without restraint and shows brutality in all its horror, along with the emotional devastation it wreaks among survivors. And while we do have a cliched hero who vows revenge, he's no Superman or Goku with unlimited power levels. He's as human and vulnerable as the rest of us, and sometimes gets himself into trouble when he loses control of his emotions. Even though he develops significant abilities later on in the story, that exclusive human element--vulnerability--remains an important recurring theme. With vulnerability comes dependency, and dependency, friendship, and from these three evolve the complex decisions we all make in our own lives. AoT takes you to a place where the consequences of such decisions are amplified a thousand fold, using characters more complex than their appearances would suggest. And it does so without any cheap fluff to broaden its audience: no jiggling boobs, silly jokes or high school hookups for unsexed manchildren. Just people dealing with loss in an increasingly bleak world, and doing their best to survive. If there is a western analogue to AoT, it's likely The Walking Dead. The show does have some flaws (there is heavy exposition and repetitive time fillers), likely due to cost concerns from pirating, but if you have time to kill and are curious about anime, this is probably the show for you. Seriously, it's barely $17 bucks for the HD version and Netflix has all of season 1, so do yourself a favor and check it out. You're in for a wild ride!

Japanese Audio > English Dubbed (Always!)
I had seen a few reviews that said there’s no Japanese with English subtitles on these discs. That’s NOT true! The default audio is English when you first begin playback. I immediately stopped it and went back to the setup screen where I switched it to Japanese but was initially disappointed to see there was no subtitle menu. But when I resumed playback, it automatically had the English subtitles with the Japanese audio.I was, however, disappointed that the commentaries and the “making of” featurettes were ONLY in English and focused ONLY on the American-made version and actors by Funimation Studios. I would have rather heard from the Japanese voice actors, directors, set designers, Manga creators, etc. I am not interested (not even a little bit) in the process the American production company brought this together because Funimation weren’t the creators of the Manga. If you’re like me and want to immerse yourself in the world that anime offers, then you absolutely must watch it with Japanese audio. I’m listening to, actually right now, the American voice actors in studio dubbing the dialog for the show with interviews mixed in. And it just seems so…….fake. No disrespect to the actors’ abilities, but hearing English while watching a show that wasn’t animated by American artists immediately takes me out of the experience I’m meant to have. That being said, it is most certainly worth the purchase!!

A good anime that some people will very much enjoy.
Attack on Titans:I first saw this anime with subs, last year (2013), and I was surprised by how good it was! When I first heard of Attack on Titan, I was expecting the greek titans jeje I was wrong with that, The titans are more human like, with the thirst for blood, they will eat anyone who gets in their way (or at least most of them will). The anime can get very intense at times with top notch action scenes! It does get a little slow in some episodes, but it was nothing that made me want to stop watching it. The Japanese voice acting is really good, and while the dub is not as good as the subs, it's still good, for those who prefer the dubbed versions. The animation is different from what I have seen before, the characters outlines are thicker than most anime, but I really like that. Character development is not great, but still good, with the main character (Eren) being sorta 1 dimensional... The anime can be really gory and brutal at times, so I wouldn't recommend it to little kids... Overall, it's a good anime, plot and story are done well, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes action/adventure anime.Part 2 Limited edition+ Artbox:Part 2 limited edition is pretty much build the same as part 1, with different pictures, interviews, information on titans and such. The artbox holds both parts, Limited edition Part 1 and part 2 and they both fit perfectly in it. The box is made of cardboard (like a lot artboxes), but it's sturdy, so you don't have to worry about it bending easily. On the spine and top, it only has the name of the anime, and in the back it has the face on a titan. I recommend buying this edition ONLY if you're a big fan of this anime and or like collecting limited editions and such. Between part 1 and 2 limited edition, it would cost you well over $100 bucks, which is not really worth it, if you just like it, and want to own it. For you guys, I recommend the regular edition which goes for about $60 bucks for both parts.I will upload some images so you could checked out, if you guys want to see how it looks.

Awesome! But...
First, i want to point out that this doesn't come with a sleeve like most blu-ray+dvd combo packs that I see in stores. I assume it isn't supposed to since part 1 didn't have one either. The disks all work and the rest is pretty much as expected. The case got chipped in the top corner, but that might be my fault. (I honestly can't remember if i dropped it.) Unlike the DVDs, the Blu-rays don't give you the option of turning off subtitles when you select the japanese audio. I also found that I couldn't toggle between the english and japanese audio tracks without manually changing it in the blu-ray's setup menu. It baffles me that the dvds trump the blu-ray in this aspect (and this applies to part 1 as well). The menu still uses white text with your selection highlighted in grey.To anyone that really likes the second openning, you may be disappointed to know that the english text doesn't cast shadows and doesn't appear animated like the original japanese openning's text did. This was probably the biggest let-down for me, as it becomes slightly less epic-looking with the text just being there. Still, this is (in my opinion) the better half of the series since it really shows just how insane (and quirky) the survey corps is! The dub does not disappoint and the special features are delightful (Fly, Cadets, Fly!). It remains faithful to the manga and I can't wait for season 2!

P.good.
This is pretty good, ends in a really dumb way though... massive cliff hanger. The hook of "everyone can die" wears a little thin when you realize how terrible the writer is and that Mikasa is for no reason this super human who will NEVER die in the story, and that Erin is bulletproof too.[Spoiler]As this is part 2 you already know Erin can go all titan mode, so just remember that moment you realized the main character who has a terrible voice actor (in english or japanese) is now plot armored.
