This activates a siphon that flushes out waste trapped in the reservoir while performing a partial water change. We recommend pouring fresh, conditioned water into the aquarium weekly. If you don't have the chance to activate the self-cleaning cycle weekly then pour more water into the aquarium during the next cleaning. Uneaten food and waste may be difficult to remove if the self-cleaning system is not activated regularly. For best results, activate the system about an hour after you feed your fish to flush out waste and uneaten food.
