Add this to your toolkit
Concrete advice, thought-provoking prompts, and a surprisingly deep dive into causes and solutions for emotional eating while still being a quick read. I purchased this book and have taken an online course from Dr. McCreery and have found her style to be more therapeutic than a significant portion of the face to face therapy I have done around disordered eating. This book is a great investment for anyone looking to take immediate action to change their relationship with food.

Pretty good book
This book is pretty good. I learned a lot about emotional eating, such as some of the triggers and how to deal with them. The content gets a little dry and boring at times but there is some useful information.

I have finally found the help I needed. I am so, so thankful.
In this book, Dr. Melissa McCreery has given me the guidance and help I have needed for so, so long. Unlike my past methods and beliefs, this book is not about "not eating" and "depriving myself" or "controlling myself". It is just the opposite! It is about giving myself all the nourishment I truly need, in all areas of life. I am learning how to "feed" my needs appropriately, without going to food, and I love it. I feel so much more nourished in all areas, and I am so happy. We don't have to feed our emotions and feelings with food - Dr. McCreery leads us step by step in learning how to stop, identify our emotions and feelings, and nourish ourselves appropriately, and it is so much more satisfying than the food. If you think you overeat or eat emotionally, I encourage you to get the hard copy of this book. Underline like crazy, use post it book marks, make notes all over the place. It will be your lifeline, and you will turn to it again and again, and you will learn to be happy and nourished, without the extra food.(I've had the book two weeks and have lost 15 pounds - easily - without feeling deprived in the slightest, without effort - because I'm taking care of myself in the right ways, and feeling so satisfied and comforted and nourished in all areas.)

Truly the key to unlock your diet mindset
As a Fitness enthusiast and busy business woman, I often found myself binge eating. Unsure of why and knowing I could not just quit my job so I can eliminate stress, I decided to follow Melissa on Facebook, watch her videos and read this book to learn how to identify what was triggering my self defeating patterns. I highly recommend your read this guide if any of what I have described to you sounds familiar! Now when I find myself standing in the kitchen shoveling chips in my mouth I can stop and say, hey am I really hungry, or do I really need something elseIke rest, a hot bath, a book or a friend.

Not worth downloading
The author goes on and on about being successful at a young age with her eating issues. There is never any real path to follow unless you pay to download more of her information.

Great resource book for emotional eaters
This is a great helpful book. It breaks it down into steps of a 4 week program. I felt this helped to not overwhelm you and make you understand why you are an emotional eater. Also there is positive reinforcement throughout the book. Ms. McCreery makes sure that you don't give up on yourself and you don't talk down about yourself. Also there are many helpful hints to get over a slump or to help you commit to changes. She lets you know that there will be times of setback but how to get back on track. If you mindlessly eat or are an emotional eater this book will help you realize your triggers and change your eating habits.

one of the few books that make sense on this topic
Making links between certain foods and emotions has been very helpful. Making links between certain foods and certain people (e.g. scrambled eggs like Granny used to make can make one feel cared-for) I took from another book I read simultaneously with this one, and the two books just sort of clicked together. Let me repeat: that's extremely helpful. This way you can pinpoint your cravings for things other than food. It doesn't just help you stop eating everything in sight. It also makes you think about putting up your Granny's picture on a wall or something, actually making yourself feel better about bigger things in life. The author does mention other materials quite a lot, but this book is complete without them. You just make some lists, do some journaling, and everything works fine without any special-made spreadsheets or soundtracks.I should also mention that I got this book for free during some promotion, and I'm glad I did. It was worth the time spent reading it. I actually kept it open on my Kindle for a while after I finished reading it because I didn't want to just forget it, like I've done with most other self-help books.

Not for me
Deleted it and can't even remember why, now, but pretty sure that's an indication that I didn't think it had anything to offer. Or maybe I didn't want to do all the work. Anyway, I lost 20 lbs without it so I guess I'm good.

Very insightful
I learned a lot from this book. She makes a lot of insightful observations about women and food. Have to say that I also read "Overcoming Binge Eating" by Christopher Fairburn and that book is better, but this is a good companion to it.

Different approach helped change mindset
This book is really good for helping you thing about why you binge eat etc. I feel like i know what i should do but dont do it. The author explains how to be curious about why i do things rather than put it down to my failures..really useful for me.Her podcasts are a great accompniment to the book to just listen for 5-15 mins at a time.
