Love the rolling barrel
Been using the In-Styler for years. smooths my hair and gives my hair volume. I ware them out and buy another one every time. I can not stand a flat Irons.

Makes frizzy hair look smooth and shiny. Makes a soft, loose curl on long hair.
I am 76 years old, and have naturally very straight hair that doesn't hold curl very well. After I wash my hair, I blow dry it which doesn't leave it looking very smooth. I use this curling iron on my hair when it is slightly moist, and it completes the drying, smooths any frizzies, makes my hair shiny, and creates a soft curl at the ends.If you have never used a rotating curling iron, it may take a bit to get used to it. With a double closing of the curler, it changes direction. This is great to get the backward motion for the top of your hair and changing the rotational direction for the sides.I have been using a curling iron like this I have had for about 5 years. It still works fine, but I wanted a spare in case the one I am using decided to quit. This usually happens when using it, so I wanted to be ready for a possible failure of the one I have been using. The rotating ceramic barrel does not burn your hair like a static curling iron or hot curlers. I would recommend this curler for either straight or curly hair that you want to make smooth and shiny.I hope this review was helpful for you.

Be careful gets really hot
This thing is really amazing. It makes my course dry curly hair….completely straight and silky with tons of bouncy body. Quite frankly I’ve never been a real girly girl that primps a lot, so I have to be very careful as I keep burning my ears and forehead…..and that’s only on #2 setting.

Absolutely love it!!
I have used the InStyler for years. I have wavy hair that I need to look like a blow out from the salon. This does the trick. Remember not to use it like a flat iron unless you want straight hair with no curl. As you place the InStyler at the base of your scalp make sure to turn your wrist towards your chin so that you will get a curl as you SLOWLY pull it down the section of hair. Also, do not place too much hair on the InStyler. I part the top section of my hair and place a clip to leave the bottom part free to curl. Go around your head and then undo the clip and do that section, which is really the important section since that is the one you see. The trick is to make sure you do not put a thick section of hair on the appliance and move it down slowly while turning your wrist. I have long hair and it takes 10 min., start to finish to style my hair. When I have had shorter hair, like chin length, it was a breeze. I have gone through two of these in fifteen years, but not so bad for using it every day. Pretty much what you would go through with any other hair appliance. BTW, even my hairdresser asked how I get my hair styled so well considering he knows I am all thumbs with a blow dryer and round brush. But this gives you that look...like using a blow dryer and a round brush. Volume and curl, plus the shine!

Hair looks much better than with a hair iron.
I love my In styler and have had several. I always first quickly dry my hair with a blow- dryer and brush first. I have short hair so this is quick btw. Next I put on just a little bit of some heat-protecting styling cream or oil, separate my hair into strands, and use my instyler. Don’t go too fast, slide down slowly. Hair looks great. You can straighten and style it other ways too since it rotates two ways. It’s not time-consuming really. I use it to spike the top part and straighten the bottom- I have an asymmetrical cut that’s shorter on top, then longer at the bottom on one side. Hair looks straight but much more natural than if you use a hair iron. There an instyler with a narrower barrel that’s easier for shorter hair and one that’s for both long and short hair. There another model that came out a while ago and is pink that I didn’t like. The bristles are too short so it doesn’t work as well. I wouldn’t recommend that one but this one is great.I know there was an in styler that you could use with damp hair but I’ve never had it. I think if you’ve got long hair and are looking for a product that can you can use on damp hair there are some new brushes available. My sister just bought a hot tools brand professionals brush that’s like using a brush and a hair dryer but with only one hand and she really likes it.I like mine though. Would recommend.

Deserves ZERO stars
After owning 3 previous InStylers that served me well for years, I was shocked at how cheap and ineffective this latest (4th) InStyler was. It was immediately clear that the motor was weak, so I tried to return it, and Amazon referred me to the manufacturer for a warranty replacement, which I did. I had to pay shipping to return the unit, and was subsequently sent a replacement unit which - incredibly - was WORSE than the original unit. Not only was the motor weak on the replacement unit, but my hair got caught in the rotating barrel where it fastens to the handle, and it pulled my hair into it and it got stuck - while the unit was on the hottest setting - and I had to unplug it while it was burning my hair and I had to rip my hair to get it out of the hot unit. Do NOT NOT NOT purchase this cheap generation of InStyler. It is a total waste of money, and the company will not help you again after they send you a replacement unit. They say there is no warranty on the warranty replacement unit, so you're out your original purchase price, the return shipping fees, and out of luck as far as remedy at this point (and, as in my case, even out of some hair). This edition of InStyler is made with cheap materials, a weak motor, and is nothing at all like the first generation InStylers of yesteryear. So, save your money and spend it on a brand with integrity.

Not quite the same as my last one
I like it except for some reason, my hair keeps getting caught in the end, in two places, between the tip and the barrel and under the guard on the same end. When it gets caught, the only way to get it out, is to pull, so your hair gets ripped out/broken. I've used these for over 15 years, this is my 4th one. I've never had this issue before.
