I hit something submerged in the river and it claimed the keg on my Mercruiser outdrive. So glad this repair kit is available, was easy to install and actually looks and works great! Two thumbs up!

Felt a little flimsy at first but once locked down tight with the bolts it was rock solid. Installation was easy, just take your time drilling your holes and drill slowly from each side and meet in the middle. Not sure it really improved performance but it sure looks nicer than my beat up scag.

I purchased this skeg guard to repair a damaged skeg. The one small complaint was that it did require trimming to my already damaged skeg which was not expected.From the listing it states "whether you are looking to protect your new skeg or just add some shine" it appeared that this would actually be larger to slip-on over your existing skeg. Even with the damage from the photos it required cutting about 3" off the bottom section of the original skeg to fit the guard on properly.While this is not a big deal on an already damaged unit it would be a surprise if you excepted to slip this on over a new lower unit.Screws that were provided fit perfect. Two allen wrenches and small bottle of thread sealant were included inside of the packaging and worked great to complete the install.Overall I would recommend this for anyone with a damaged skeg as it is much cheaper & easier than having to buy a new one.
