Is this compatible with adt doorbell?

Look for the voltage needed for ADT doorbell. I guess it will work, it says on the description.

For ring pro, is this the one i'm looking for? do i need to go up to a 24 v/40va, or is this the better option for just a one doorbell hookup?

Your specs for your Ring Pro type should tell you. I had to upgrade to this so it would work with a third-party digital doorbell and still power the Ring Door Bell. The other thing to consider is if your wire is the correct gauge and is up to code. I recommend hiring an electrician to be sure.

I just installed the transformer for a ring pro doorbell. I noticed right away that it gets very warm. Is this normal?

Yes because it's transforming from 110 to 16/24 volt.
