Silence & Solitude: Yellowstone's Winter Wilderness

I ordered this beautiful book along with the dvd 'Christmas in Yellowstone' which features footage of the photographer, Tom Murphy. Alone, the book is a stunning and unique look into the strange and beautiful world of Yellowstone in the dead of winter. The photos make you stop and spend time with each image. You can almost feel the biting wind, and hear the howl of the wolf pack. How this man does what he does, under some of the most brutal conditions on earth is beyond me. Outstanding! (If you want more of Tom's beautiful work - and video of him in action, I highly recommend the dvd 'Christmas in Yellowstone.'

When I saw the program on public T.V. I was enthralled by the beauty so I had to order the book & the DVD. The book is beautiful, the photos unbelievable and I cannot wait for the DVD to come so I can sit back in wonder & awe of just how lucky I am to live in a country that has such a beautiful place as Yellowstone. When I look at the scenes I can honestly say there has to be a God, for who else could have made such a place.

This book showcases some of Tom Murphy's wonderfully honest images of Yellowstone National Park in winter (flora and fauna). Highly recommended, especially for nature photographers considering a visit to Yellowstone in winter. Included at the end of the book is a concise technical summary of Tom's approach to photographing Yellowstone in the winter. I bought this after seeing the program on tv. I have been to Yellowstone several times, including in the winter, and this is the perfect book to keep those unbelievable memories alive. There are lots of places in the world that are 'like nowhere else', but this one is truly in the top ten of all of those. The book captures the beauty, the pristine feel of winter there, and the struggles and beauty of the animals who endure the winters there.

When I first ordered this book, I wasn't expecting much because the price was so low. When it arrived I was blown away! The book was in great condition AND ( surprise) it was signed by the author too!I enjoy reading and treasure my favorite books. This book will be treasured. I'm very happy and satisfied with purchase.

Exceeded my expectations. This is a large coffee table size book. It features stunning pictures of Yellowstone the book is in very good condition and was delivered on time. Anyone who has been lucky enough to go to Yellowstone or someone like me who hasn't been there would appreciate this book. Not only for the pictures but also of the author. I would not hesitate to order from this seller again.

Tom Murphy's photographs and descriptive text make a perfect companion for anyone in love with the beauty of winter. Having been in Yellowstone in the winter, I truly appreciate the skill of this incredible photographer. Tom Murphy has spent endless hours photographing the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and the photos that make it into his books are glorious. He is a naturalist as well and he takes you on a trip into the wilderness with his beautiful books.

Wenn du dir das Buch anschaust, empfindest du einfach nur Schönheit.Ich bin durch den Dokumentarfilm über den Fotografen auf dieses Buch aufmerksam geworden. Die Videoaufnahmen über den Yellowstone im Winter waren atemberaubend. Das Buch ist wie ein Gedächtnisprotokoll dazu. Ich erkenne die Landschat und die Tiere wieder und habe so eine Brücke zu der Geschichte, die an diesen Bildern hängt und die ich so nicht wieder vergessen werde.Für Liebhaber von Stille und Einsamkeit ist dieser Bildband ein wunderschönes Geschenk.Andreas
