Works! Morning congestion gone!
Just had the popcorn ceiling removed and it left dust on everything, everywhere. Not sure if that's the cause, but have been having hives on face. After my mother saying maybe I should get an air purifier, I saw one at my hair salon and looked into the one my stylist had. After the deep dive into air purifiers reasonably priced on the market, came up with this one instead based on mutiple reviews from Amazon and elsewhere. they also sell a smaller unit for smaller spaces, and another unit like this one without the pet filter for those watching their dollars. I have not installed the pet filter yet, but will when move to my mother's where there is a cat and it's an old musty house, and will update review. Right now, I'm using it in a 1000 sq ft condo. I've kept it in the middle of the open space dining/living room and have it running all the time for the past week. I know it is working/responding because it is usually in low or sleep mode with the blue light, but when I cook, shower, open a door or window it revs up to medium/yellow light and rarely high/red. As i've been cleaning popcorn dust areas, it also notices and ups it's filtering. I have it in auto mode so usually hardly notice when it's on in low mode or sleep mode. The noise level at the higher modes is fine, not super loud or annoying and I am pretty noise sensitive. The best unexpected benefit is even though it's not in my bedroom, I'm not waking up stuffy and coughing which is my norm (sucks to be me then!) That is sort of miraculous, so I can only assume that since I have it on continuously, it is cleaning the air throughout the condo as I haven't changed anything else, nor in my diet. It is a fairly large unit, though not too heavy to move from room to room as I've done once. When I had it in my bedroom one night, I put it in Sleep mode and noise is nothing, the only light is the "Sleep" mode light (I'm also very light sensitve, of course!), so I put a small piece of cardboard over it, just resting on it, and that took care of the light. I didn't notice any affects from having it in my bedroom early on, moved it back out to the living area ever since and that's why I'm so surprised it seems to help the whole place even in other rooms after being continuously on for days. I've also tried the PlasmaWave feature which is supposed to help it filter better, and there has been discussion on the internet about any detrimental effects of ions, with Winix and others explaining that this type doesn't produce the detrimental ions. At this point, I haven't noticed any difference negatively from having it on, but it is easy to turn it off if you have concerns. I am very pleased and think for the price and benefits it's more than worth it!

Quiet, Efficient, and Well Designed
I rarely review products I buy but I feel I have to for this one. Thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and can't recommend this air purifier enough. It is extremely quiet even when it ramps up into higher fan speeds. I'd forget it was even running behind me if it wasn't for the noticeable improvement in air quality that reminds me of it being there. I suffer from severe pollen and pet allergies especially during the spring and summer months and this product has massively reduced my symptoms. The air in my apartment smells and feels noticeably cleaner and I appreciate the inclusion of a year's worth of pet pre-filters for free in the box. I have a dog with a tri-coat that sheds all year and this unit has greatly reduced the pet dander and dust that builds up in my home which has brought me great relief. If you can't tell already, I can't recommend this unit enough. Do yourself a favor and don't cheap out when you buy an air purifier. The cost of this unit is perfect middle ground of function, form, and cost while performing way above my expectations. Don't let the 300sq foot advertised figure fool you, this bad boy handles my 800sq ft apartment just fine and rarely has to go into High mode to keep the air clean. Absolutely would recommend especially if you have pets or seasonal, pollen-based allergies.

Very impress. Very nice filter for apartment or bedroom.
Alright so I'm just going to breakdown my thought on it. Plus: 1. Very silent. It's very quiet for a air filter. Even on turbo mode, it wasn't as loud as I thought. 2. Clean the room. Honestly, ever since I bought this product and used it, our bedroom has gotten better in term of smell and air quality. We live in an open space apartment so this is also great for the living room area/ dining room. 3. Cleaning was very easy and instruction were clear. You have to change the pet filter every month but I gotten away with changing it every 2 months or so. The pre-filter is also really easy to clean. Problem: 1. Erhhh...honestly, no problem with it so far. I think it wouldn't work well in a big house or a large living room but with my living condition, it works very well. Maybe, change the look a little bit ? Have a all-white version of this product or change the grey control panel to a light wood look with contact paper ?

Awesome product with minor inconveniences.
My husband and I bought the Winix air purifier because we have 3 cats and 1 dog in a 2 bedroom home in a top 10 city for worst air quality in the nation. I felt like our air quality must have been terrible. Once we turned the Winix Pet on, we knew we were right. After getting started, it immediately turned to amber and kicked up to medium flow! I haven't checked the air filter since it's only been 2 weeks, but I'm positive the pre-filter is working hard in our pet friendly home. I've noticed it runs very quiet unless it's in turbo and even still it's not terrible. I'm not as excited about the sleep mode, I have walked past it and wondered why the light wasn't on multiple times, to realize that it's on but the light is off and I just wish they had the indicator more dim rather than gone altogether. Also it blows really weak in this setting, I feel like the air won't circulate enough. Really minor setbacks to an otherwise solid and reasonably priced product. Now that I've had the Winix HR900 for a few months, I can truly say it has worked wonders for me. We moved from a 2 bedroom apartment to a studio with 3 cats and 1 dog! I've asked visitors what they smell and they either say nothing or clean laundry (thank God) so I would say it does the job!

Very, Very Good, But....
I have allergies and we have two Pekinese puppies. I hoped this air cleaner would suck out all the dog hair in our bedroom, but it doesn't get it all. There will be hair on the floor near it, and even on the highest setting it doesn't move. Several people commented that our house smells realy clean. So other than not really drawing the dog hair to it amazingly, it does a really, really good job. We run it on Turbo at night to keep the dogs from barking at every little sound. It works good for that too. Most of the rest of the time we leave it on automatic and it speeds up and slows down very well as needed. On the lower speed settings we can hardly hear it. Clears out my wifes morning perfume and hairspray really fast. Those odors can give me a little headache sometimes. I included a picture of the dog hair it has removed in a few weeks since we got it. Time for our first pet filter change. I've had other air cleaners. This is thr best one we've had.

Very effective after Wildfires and with Pet Dander/dust.
It's large so effective in big rooms. It's sensitive and uses a large but discrete light to show when air is less than optimal. Ours goes from blue (good aq) to yellow when the cat walks by it or uses the litter box. We have found that ours doubles as a pleasant nightlight. I find it amazing and I've had no sore throat since we set it up 5 days ago. I can't believe the difference already. I purchased two as I live in a two-story farm home. I have foster critters galore. It is amazingly quiet!! I do not use the sleep mode as I prefer a little soft brown noise at night. It's just...so quiet!! I'm as surprised at that as I am how effective it is. Most importantly, we experienced the horrid wildfires in Oregon this September and I was using the homemade box fan filtering set up at first in a pinch. Air quality was off the chart as you would expect. It's been 7 weeks since the fire hit. We've struggled with odd respiratory/throat and a random sharp dry cough since. These symptoms no longer exist when I'm at home. But do at work which tells me these machines are doing something remarkable. I would highly recommend spending the $$ on these. It's well worth it to us so far. Amazing really. I do use the first thin pet filter *which they include 12 of these inside the box when shipped*. There are a total of 4 different types of filters in the machine once you set it up, which is EASY. All included to get you through the first two or three months at least. Two are washable (1-semi think carbon, 1-thin nylon{?} mesh), the paper filter is thick and very effective and will need to be replaced but it says they can last up to 12 months which mine will obviously not do. I'll update the post when it. needs changed. Finally, The paper thin fibrous filter for pet hair/dander filter which as stated above, comes with 12 of these and I'm sure I will go through these fast. No matter. It's totally worth it so far! Just checked filter two that is in the busiest part of the house. ALL filters still look like new almost a week later. YaY! These also have a 'dust' sensor which is nice.

Quiet and effective BUT NO WARRANTY!!!
We live with two dogs. Both shed a LOT! One is part hound with a strong odor. Our vet uses this brand in his exam rooms, but we chose this model for the added pet dander filter (it comes with a dozen). The extra filter takes a few minutes to install, but it works! We use this in our +/- 280 sq ft family & TV room. The noise level is unobtrusive and the unit has made a big difference in reducing the odors and allergens. Recommended UPDATE: We purchased this unit in April 2023 and were very pleased with its performance until December 22, at which point it stopped working. It displayed two blinking fan speed lights and could not be restarted. We reported the problem to Winix and were notified by tech support that it must be returned for repair. Several hours later I received the following notice from Winix: "Thank you for reaching out to Winix America. We do apologize the Winix Limited Manufacturer warranty does not apply to units purchased by third party sellers. The proof of purchase provided notate that this item was sold by S&E Mart through Amazon. We recommend reaching out to the seller for further assistance. Best Regards, Winix Customer Service" The Amazon ad did NOT indicate that the item offered was not eligible for the manufacturer's warranty!

Great for pet owners!
With a husky that sheds all year and several cats, it doesn’t get rid of ALL the hair in the room (we still have to vacuum daily of course), but it definitely helps! I have noticed a difference of less dust floating in the air. The air even smells cleaner. The removable/replaceable pet filter caught SO MUCH hair I was so surprised. We replaced the filter as per the Instructions at first but I was curious to see how long a filter would last before the check filter light came on. It took MONTHS (summer we put a new one in, and just took it out in February). The filters that are further inside still look great, and the cheap pet hair filter did most of the dirty work! Won’t even have to replace the true HEPA big filter that is the furthest inside for probably another year! Super quiet when on, and it goes into sleep mode when the room is dark without any light or sound. A fantastic buy! I’m excited to buy more for other high traffic rooms in our house! Included is photos of how much hair, fur, and dust the replaceable pet hair filter has trapped when the “check filter light” has finally come on (about 6 months). The only issue we’ve had was locating a paperclip to reset!
