HATED it at first, but after changing picture settings, I LOVE IT!
We have had this TV for ONE MONTH. Here is my assessment of the TV so far:SIZE: Our new home seats us 13 FEET away from the TV. According to distance standards, 80" is easily within acceptable range. At first, it seemed really huge and I was concerned my eyes wouldn't be able to follow the whole screen but after having it in place for 1 month, there was no need for my concern because the size is absolutely perfect!SOUND: The sound on this TV is its only true weakness. Get a sound bar or surround sound! HANDS DOWN, JUST DO IT. We have a sound bar that's 7 years old and works perfectly with it.PICTURE: The picture is AWESOME! I had some issues with it at first, because I was watching netflix and it was a little fuzzy and I was so bummed but it turned out that I needed to set my streaming quality to HIGH with netflix and now its super duper clear. The only issues arise when like 100 million people are streaming at peak times and it reduces my streaming quality. The soap opera effect was also kind of weird to watch but I realized that turning it completely off GREATLY REDUCES CLARITY. My settings below adjust for this so that the soap opera effect is low, but clarity stays high.COLOR: When this TV first arrived I was very skeptical about changing from plasma to LED. I loved our plasma TV's coloring and black levels and when this first arrived the stock settings were horribly bluish, the blacks were navy and I was ready to return it. My husband, on the other hand, fell in love with the TV and encouraged me to mess with the settings to figure out how I could fix the coloring before making a decision. He totally doesn't see or care about color like me. So I endeavored to reduce the excessive blueness in skin tones, darken the blacks, and figure out this motion blur/ soap opera effect stuff. I am in love with it too now!So after like 3 days and several hours of messing with it, here is my preferred setting for normal watching:AV MODE: UserAutomatic light sensor: OFFBacklight: -4Contrast: +32Brightness: 0Color: 0Tint: 0Sharpness: +3(ADVANCED categories below)Motion Enhancement: 120 Hz Low (the clarity is SO much better with this and film mode on so I kept them low to reduce the "soap opera effect")CMS Hue: 0 for everythingCMS Saturation: 0 for everythingCMS Value: 0 for everythingColor Temp ->Color Temp: MID-LOW (SUPER IMPORTANT! This was the game changer for me in regards to color)10 point settings: OFFActive Contrast: OFFGamma Adjustment: 0FILM MODE -> Advanced: +2 (As I mentioned above, the clarity it greatly enhanced when this is on, so I reduced it pretty low to keep it from looking like a soap opera.)Digital Noise Reduction: AutoMonochrome: OffWhen watching a really DARK MOVIE or tv show, I set a separate AV MODE (I chose energy star) the same as the above settings except for the following:Backlight: -14Contrast: +38Brightness: -3The only other comment I have is that if you decide to purchase this TV you will become extremely popular, especially around the time of major sporting events and season finales. :)

Do not buy any sharp product.
We have 2 80 inch aquos tv's and 1 70. One of the 80's stopped working. It took a month, but sharp finally sent us a refurbished unit. The refurbished tv only lasted a month or two before it started having issues. We dealt with it constantly shutting off every 5 minutes while we waited for Sharp to send someone out to look at it.... 3 months have gone by, we call a few times a week and spend an hour or two waiting and talking, trying to get it worked out. It is so unbelievable that they are poor with support. I could have overlooked a product that might need repair, but waiting 3 months, and spending 20 hours of my time trying to get it worked out has been a nightmare. I can not ever again recommend a sharp product to anyone. Save yourself a lot of time and headache and stay away from everything that Sharp makes.

Not Quite
So I bought this 80" TV and decided to send it back within 24 hours...probably less than 4 view time. Just wasn't a good picture, in fact it was terrible, I found Blurays to look awful and Netflix was unbearably blocky. Some people might like it, but I'm too picky about my picture.I went with the Samsung 75" 6400 instead and I think the difference is night and day, despite giving up 5" on the diagonal.

Great TV Awesome Size.
After eight month's of service, I can say this is a nice TV for the money. Great picture right out of the box. The sound could be a little better, however if it's a great sound, or surround sound effect you are looking for, then just know up front your going to have to add additional speaker's of some sort. The down size to this TV, it's taking longer and longer to come on, like the old tube TV's took a minute or so before coming to life. A word of advice, turn off the automatic light sensor. It's a big pain. It's a great TV as I said, but buyer beware, purchase the extra warranty, you might need it. The TV get's three stars because I have concern's about it's long term life, however I am covered with the extended warranty, but who want's to deal with all that if a problem does arise. I would recommend this TV to anyone, long as they go in with eyes wide open.

80" of awesome!
This tv is massive and full of awesome. This particular unit was either a refurb or a return with light cosmetic damage but I have yet to find anything wrong with it. It even came already set up most likely due to the fact that it was previously owned. No real complaints here! Though I only gave it 4 stars because the sound, while good, isn't great. Definitely would recommend some kind of sound system pref with a receiver as I believe the optical only works with the first HDMI port for some odd reason. For the money, it's totally worth it. I do wish the remote had a keyboard feature as selecting the letters and numbers during a search does get annoying with the smart features. If you have a mobile phone with the TVs apps, most of them (YouTube, Netflix) have a sync feature that you can search on your phone and watch on your tv. I just use that.Overall, great purchase!
