**Q: Can you use whole bean and ground coffee with these?**
A: No, as it it doesn’t have an inbuilt grinder (only bean to cup coffee machines have these and some filter machines).  This is just a cafetière (French press) so uses infusion method.  Side note and not what you asked I know, but this was a really poor quality cafetière and I wouldn’t recommend (my review under Lee should be on the reviews) - can get much better for the same/less money.
