This is going to turn this RT version of Windows into a fully fledged hybrid PC. It'll become a true PC, much like any Windows laptop you could buy. It'll run Windows applications, just like your home PC, which at present it obviously cannot do because the version of Windows that it came with was written especially for Surface RT and its non-Intel CPU. What this will mean is, that if you have a portable USB CDRW drive, as I do, you'll either just plug it in and it'll work - or hopefully download the software and get it working. I'm pretty sure, when you plug it in, it will work, certainly as a CD-ROM, but may need Nero or whatever CDRW Software it came with to burn data to blank discs. It also may of course use Windows' own code to be able to write files, but either way - we should be good to go.I still have mine, it's like new. It really will bring a whole new depth to using a Surface RT tablet. Because, providing the specification of the software listed by any Windows software matches the spec of our Surface, we'll be able to download standard Windows applications for the first time ever.
