Thicker leather laces and more fluffy padding material inside the sole. The tread pattern is better than some other brands, and has very good grip. I don't think I ever slipped, tripped, or fell using these, even through rain, snow, and ice - going back and forth to the mailbox in the dead of winter. Finally after about 1 year and 4 months they started to give out on me. Most of the tread pattern is gone in some places, and there have been holes coming through where I put most of the walking pressure on the sole. But, I'm happy with them! For ~$20 you can't beat it. A year+ of comfortable walking for $20 isnt bad at all! I've had work boots that didn't last that long. I love em, and I will be ordering more for as long as they continue to make them! In other words, if you're planning on wearing without socks you might want to orders a 1/2 size smaller. With socks. size should fit okay. Also, fur lining around the edges comes off easily but for the price, not a major issue. Pretty fast shipping too. BTW, my cat seems to love rubbing against these things. Made in China? Maybe fur is from a real critter? Who knows.
