WOW! I am very happy with this little maul. As reiterated by many other reviewers, this has a great feel in your hand and very worth the price for leather crafting work.A couple of notes about its construction; the weight of the total mallet is 11.4oz with 9.8oz being in the head. That means most of the weight is bearing down when you're striking. Because of the short handle and how it is gripped, it feels comfortable and under control when being used. I did do a few good whacks on my quartz tabletop and didn't feel anything come loose or have anything go flying off, so it seems pretty solidly made. Just realize that this is a "precision" instrument meant for tooling and light work. While you could certainly set rivets and snaps and even some flattening of leather with this, it still is made of nylon and light weight. It doesn't have enough weight to do heavy work and you risk jumping of tools needing to strike more. But when it comes to detail tooling, I could use this for hours without getting tired or sore.If you are looking for a first maul to do tooling with, I would certainly recommend this tool to you.

Good quality and very cheap

I like this hammer for using with my leather kit, perfect size, perfect weight and I like how I can stand it up, ready to be grabbed when I need it. Nothing is perfect in reality, so a 4 star reveiw from me is the best, something I would recommend...

Everyone can use a hammer. That is why I chose this to be my beginning tool for hitting things like my chisels and stamps. More face so I don't miss like the tiny hammers they put in a basic tool kit. Maybe I will get a maul someday but this does me for now. Feels good in hand (like a hammer!).

I've used the mallet on several leather projects, mostly for driving stitching chisels. It works well and I'm super glad for the price. It's a super recommendation.

I got hooked on leather projects after taking a class at the local leather shop. Problem was, I have very small hands and most of the hammers or mallets on the market, weren't comfortable to use. Thought I would try this one. Sooo happy with my purchase. Fits my hand comfortably and light weight but still sturdy enough to pound in rivets on my tote bag. Great price and quick shipping too

This is a great hammer for leather work. Works as I expected.

Cheap, small and light weight. Very few application where I need a mallet this light. I have fairly large hands and the handle is a little small for me. I still use it on rare occasions. If your on a budget and just starting out in leather stamping, go for it. If you get serious about leather craft, you will replace it with a higher quality mallet. I should have got the Tandy mallet for a little more $.

Good mallet. Not too heavy, but heavy enough to comfortably punch holes in leather. However, after the first big project, the handle has cracked (see photo) Very frustrating because I liked this one very much.
