I just received my new GENENG ultrasonic cleaner from Amazon and am very excited to discover all the uses for it! I have had an old container-style ultrasonic cleaner for a long time and mainly used it to clean eyeglasses and tooth brushes. But this new UC is a much more versatile, portable form factor that can be used in most any type and size container, for example plastic bowls are perfect.Besides the convenience of ultrasonic cleaning itself, the most important reasons I got this are for food safety, especially to clean fruit and vegetables to:1. Kill disease pathogens and 2. Eliminate pesticidesToo often in the news these days are stories about people sickened by diseases from unclean vegetables and fruit. A recent example is E. coli bacteria on lettuce that spread to at least 16 states and sickened at least 60 people.I did some online research to find out if ultrasonic cleaners can kill disease pathogens such as bacteria and amoeba and found that:“Ultrasonic cleaning kills bacteria and other pathogens.”“Ultrasonic cavitation breaks the cell structure of amoeba.”I am using my new UC to clean fruit and vegetables, such as apples, squash, broccoli, potatoes, even lettuce. The ultrasonic cavitation can clean even the tiniest parts of broccoli heads and folds of lettuce. For lettuce, it would take a large container/bowl for a whole head of lettuce, so I just cut the lettuce head in half.In short, I am continuing to discover new uses for this awesome Ultrasonic Cleaner and believe that it will soon become an everyday home appliance with myriad uses. I plan to update this post as I figure out more things to use it for.
