Fixer Upper Mysteries: Collection One

I wanted to write a review on the product rather than the movies themselves. I have only seen the first film so it wouldn't be justice to write a review on the series if I haven't watched the last two.This is a great set to have as it is the only set to have all 3 movies in one boxset. You can only buy the first Fixer Upper Mysteries by itself. The downside to this set is it's a Region 4 lock. Amazon doesn't mention that in the item page (which was probably an over site) but it will NOT work in US/Canada players. Unfortunately I found this out a little too late on my mistake, but Amazon was made aware of this issue. The set comes with 3 discs and artwork. Again, it's a nice set considering they have not released the last 2 movies on DVD yet (as of June 2020) but unless you have a Region 4 player, you will have to wait for them to release this collection in Region 1 format or wait until they release the final 2 films.Just wanted to give aheads up to anyone considering this set. Once I watch the other 2 films (after I figure out how I can get the chance to watch them), I will update my review to include about all 3 movies.

If you are a fan of Kate Carlisle’s Fixer Upper books, you may not recognize them. Shannon Hammer, now Hughes, is no longer a redhead with curly hair, but has long, straight blond hair. She never ties it up, so I wonder how she doesn’t get it caught in power tools. She may still be 5ft 8 [it’s hard to tell], but her best friend Jane, who is now Jennifer, is no longer 2 inches taller & statuesque and Jane/Jen’s short blond hair is now long and dark. Whitney is now nicer, Tommy’s sister instead of his wife and she owns the bookstore. The police chief kept his name, but is no longer the Norse, blond hunk that Shannon thinks of as Thor. He looks like your usual stereotypical black cop. Shannon’s house doesn’t look very Victorian, and the two apartments over her 4 car garage now look like one oversized kid’s playhouse. The dog and cat have disappeared as have most of Shannon’s friends. The story lines are a bit like the books, but overall the movies are not very exciting. Checking for the changes is more entertaining. If you haven’t read the books, you might have trouble figuring out the characters. Well, if you have read the books, you might have trouble figuring out the characters.

Hallmark makes some really sappy romance movies anymore, using the same tired themes over and over again. But,their movies and mysteries series are another story. The mysteries are suspenseful and not gory. The acting is believable, even though some of the actors are drawn from their romance DVDs. The Fixer Uppers mysteries havefresh faces for the main characters, and are fun to watch. I can't wait for more to come out!

These are not the best of the Hallmark mysteries. But they are fine to watch when you don't want intensity or trauma, just sort of an escape from the day's work and worries. The female lead really isn't a good actor. Her expressions seem pained and forced. But there's no nudity or bad language, and the romance isn't of the meet and fall into bed type. Pleasant, lightweight entertainment. Kids will probably be bored.

No Subtitles. This is a must. Wonder why?

Wonderful movies - typical Hallmark mystery, part "Who done it?" with a smidge of romantic possibility. These are well constructed Jewel and Colin Ferguson have excellent chemistry and the ensemble cast, featured in all three movies, feel like old friends.

So far I've ordered this set twice. In the first set the third disk would not play, and read as a "Data DVD", so I ordered a replacement set. In the second set only the first disk would play. The second read as a "Data DVD" and the third read as a blank, refusing to register as anything at all. I have now ordered a third set, but my expectations are not high since this no longer appears to be a fluke. Prime Video also will not replace a defective replacement, though Amazon will issue a refund.

I liked the three movies included in the set. Light and not too scary. I was guessing along and was surprised by the solution in each one of them. Well done. (I did not like that the discs were in the box not in the correct order - the stories build on each other so some extent, but not a deal breaker by any means.)

This item arrived 2 days earlier than the predicted arrival date. Item is Australian but is compatible with region 2 (UK) and so plays in my dvd player with no issues at all. Am very happy and would definitely buy from this supplier again. The DVD is excellent as you would expect from a Hallmark DVD and the movies are great, having already seen some of them on the Hallmark channel or Movies24 on Sky, I am pleased to have a permanent hard copy of them.

Having read the reviews I watched 15 minutes and then retired in disbelieve.Over produced and under directed.Poor script and stilted acting in my opinion.

I like these films they are enjoyable viewing.

3 Fixer Upper Mystery films which are easy to watch and light hearted entertainment ie no undue violence, sex or swearing.

I like the mystery and how to follow the evidence.
